I mean to me, no one should be wearing any number of a player that's in the Hall. And i dont mean numbers that like Earl Campbell or Ken Stabler wore...guys that played mostly for the Saints. Its not like we have a million of them. So 57...no 51...no 77...no 9. And just a personal preference of mine...no 12 either because Colston was the man.

My favourite memory of the great Marques Colston was a 3 minute elevator ride i took with him, Joe horn, and about 6 other fans at the Sugar Bowl from the club or suite level to the floor level.
Joe Horn talked the ENTIRE time - just a nonstop verbal diarrhea. Marques said not a single word, but still came across as friendly and likeable.

I think numbers should only ever get effectively retired.
Like if a saints player wanted to wear 9 it would be embarrassing for them. People wouldn’t like it and it wouldn’t be worth the trouble UNLESS they were already so good and respected that they, in a sense, deserved it in their own right.
Jake Heaner shouldn’t wear 9. But if in 8 years the saints signed Burrow fans would be A OK with it.

Crossed paths w Horn & Colston a few times but never really interacted with either and your description is 100% what I saw from them.
Horn could talk anyone’s ear off, and Colston is extremely reserved and a doesn’t speak unless spoken to kind of guy.

This one you could make a case for retiring. His off the field contributions are unique.

I can't imagine a soul in opposition.

It's a bummer to me that Gleasons statue outside the dome is so goofy looking. The proportions are off, the figures look like 50 year old men who are unathletic, and the uniforms look like they're from the 80's. Just a really ugly statue that could have been so beautiful. Bensons statue is way better.

At this point, honor the player’s name and number in the Ring of Honor and let it be. Numbers will become scarce if they keep vanishing.

Making the HOF in Canton....not just the Saints HOF should be automatic.
If we are sitting here 20 years talking about running out of numbers then it will be a great problem.

The #9 is the only number the Saints should ever retire.
