I don't think he has played or practiced a single snap at guard since drafted so...

how about we trust the coaches to make these decisions? just a thought

whether you like or hate how a coach decides these things they see these guys out there every day and i trust them to move guys where they fit best

We're on a Saints' message board, man. That's kind of what it's for. Would you rather him talk about the weather?

I don't think so. If he is good enough to start immediately, he will win the position. If the coaches think Hurst is the best option, he will have his first year playing when needed and learning. OLine has injuries so even if he doesn't start, he will most likely get some good playing time as OT. I don't see them moving a rookie over there unless all of our backups aren't worth a damn.

we are 2 weeks from the first game starting

its a bit late now to start suggesting players start over in new positions

if you think we shouldnt trust the coaches to have guys at the positions they play best then speak up and say it.

the OP question is more suited to off season training camp not 2 weeks before the start of the season

This isn't Madden. Changing positions on the offensive line is not as seamless as it seems, especially for a rookie.

There is blocking schemes and technique to deal with.

Don't get me wrong, some people are able to adjust to it. Hurst has done it, however he's veteran experience

I wouldn't mind having Penning start at LT and moving Hurst to RG.

Same coaching staff that had a TE playing QB? Sure, let's trust them :stirringthepot:

Penning played some guard at UNI and did well playing there at the senior bowl.

I think he would be good at RG. That's usually where you put your road grader.

We had a good run with Jahri & Warford at RG for a while.

I’d move Peat to LT, Hurst to LG, Penning to left side TE

Alotta people talking shite but I agree, the guy played guard in college and in the senior bowl. No way anyone honestly believes he wouldnt be a better guard than our guards. So he'd make our line better

Are you kidding me? Did you really just give the guy a time table that you created in your head about when he could have a discussion about hypothetical position changes to someone who hasn't solidified starting??
