Yes, he was one of the best that ever played. Who could ever forget him?

Without question, City Champ should be in the NFL Hall of Fame. His statistical numbers blow away Andre Tippett's and compare VERY favorably with the guy that is widely regarded as the best LB to ever play the game - Lawerance Taylor.

Look it up. These are facts. The only thing I can figure that is keeping him out of the Hall is the following:

1. He is not well spoken.
2. He played is small market New Orleans.
3. He is considered a deadbeat Dad.

I am not saying that this should keep him out of the Hall, I am simply playing devils advocate as to the only logical reasons why he has not even been considered as of yet.

BTW, I understand he has made strides to get the deadbeat Dad status turned around, and is trying to reconcile with his ex-wife.

Rickey Jackson is beyond deserving. If he never gets in, the NFL Hall of Fame is bullshite.

Yeah, I posted Rickey's stats and Tippet's stats, and it's a damned shame.

I get your reasons, but every year when we read HOF voting articles, the writers emphasize that they are NOT supposed to take into account off the field stuff when voting for the Hall. However, they are human, so they probably don't abide by their own rule there.

if you look at the #'s it's a no brainer that he should be in. but they look at what you do off the feild too. and having 1/2 a million in unpaid child support doesn't look to good.

things you do or say off the feild can turn off the HOF voters. ask ricky(for who? for what?)watters, he'll prolly never get in. but off the feild problems didn't hurt LT or micheal irvin.

He belongs in the HOF ahead of a lot of players getting in now. NFL players and writers need to get their heads out of their asses!

I thought you got into the HOF by your play? Not if you are well spoken, owed child support but the way you played the game. Next to LT he was one of the most dominant during his time. NFL writers and voters should vote him in. He has done everything to merit his induction into the HOF.

this is true.

Taylor

132.5 sacks
9 ints
2 tds

Jackson

128 sacks
8 ints
0 tds

Jackson played two more years than Taylor, with Jackson having 15 years.

He should be, but if you don't play for the Steelers, Cowboys, Giants, Redskins, Bears, or a few other big market teams you have to be the best of the best at your position to get in.

I think Sam Mills should be seriously considered too.

This is the main reason he's not in.

Buffalo is not a big market, several Bills players are in.

The reason he is not in is really because he played in shitty teams early in his career, while LT was dominating in NY on good teams. The good teams Rickey was on, never won a playoff game and he was some what over shadowed by Swilling (91 DPOY) on those teams. If they Saints had made a SB or maybe even a couple of NFC CG, he would probably be in, a shame that we so often hold lack of team success against individual players.

Sean Payton taking up the banner for Rickey!!!!!!!!

I think former Saints linebacker Rickey Jackson and ex-Seattle defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy should have a spot reserved for them in Canton. This is coming from an offensive coach who believes it is time to fill the Pro Football Hall of Fame with more of the NFL's defensive elite.

Watching the Hall of Fame presentation on ESPN got me thinking about this thread. I hope he's able to make it in sooner rather than later.

HOF is about your NFL accomplishments not deadbeat dad stuff, Michael Irvin and others have had numerous off field troubles that make Rickey's stuff look pale. If there was a Hall of Shame then yeah he would be in there for his deadbeat stuff, but the reason I think he's not in there is because he played with the Saints, there gonna have to petition to get him in there, NO representatives that is.
