This is what happens to some people who crave attention when they're not getting any at home. I hope someone sees your cry for help.

We would have to win with LSU guys to prove it cost us… if we’re just mediocre then it makes CSP look smart

Payton didn’t want players on his roster that the general public had any former attachment to.
He was stubborn but he was a good coach and the best thing he ever did was leave us with as strong of a roster as he did.
So yes, while he refused to sign lsu players, he built a damn strong roster and won a TON of football games.

Always wonder what LSU players the team truly passed on just to spite the fans.
The most recent one I see mentioned are Queen, but they really wanted Ruiz to shore up the interior O-Line (hindsight is a bitch).
Stretching it out a little more has the Latt/White argument; but both are proving to be great players w/ flaws in their own right.
Cooks over Landry is interesting; because at the time it appeared both were drafted in their respective rounds; but so many wanted the team to double up on WRs because LSU
And, the other board favorite Collins that 32 teams refused to draft, and only 2-3 actually considered as an UDFA.

I do think there is something too not drafting local guys as they are trying to adapt to the nfl life while still around all of there family and friends that detour them from focusing on the team. By picking guys from out of state you take them away from that environment and a force them to rely more on their teammates and build cohesion along with focusing more on football and not outside distractions. Proven vets have already learned to adapt to nfl life unlike rookies.

I can definitely see this point, but then again just because the player went to LSU doesn't necessarily mean they are truly local. I recall seeing a post about LSU having just as many guys drafted this year that were born in LA, as were born out of State

Yeah but they still have in a way built a life and relationships in that area Over the last 3 to 4 years. I’m not saying it is a good idea to exclude local guys but I think that Sean weighed that heavily in his decisions and I understand that angle. Could have been something he learned from experience and tried to avoid that situation moving forward.

Would be interesting if someone where to follow Parcells drafting history and saw a similar trend

That is a stretch
What LSU player would have stopped vernon davis in 2011 nccg
The refs blew the no call game and
Breezes arm being shot sunk 2020
Drew Brees has never been the same since taking that hit on Thanksgiving night vs the Falcons in 2019
The rest of the season he was done and all of the next.
The reality is if Breese didn't want a record Tom Brady and Sean payton would have been saint and 1 if not 2 super bowls. Letting db9 come back for his last season cost the saints championships

Well, Peyton went to Tennessee and the Saints beat him in the Super Bowl, so I'm not surprised that he doesn't have any LSU love, but...who is Shawn?
