Seriously is Hendon Hooker is the play then Dalton is the short term answer

I agree that Carr is a good QB but I also don’t really think he will be worth the bidding war that appears to be shaping up.
Dalton played well and in the NFC South IMO we would still be contenders with him and not have to pay all that much.

This is spot on. He was. A statue. Cost us plenty of games. Never won us anything.

I sat near a Bengals fan when we played them last year. We were winning 20-14 at halftime. The guy basically said, “Andy will find a way to lose this game. We’re very familiar with Dalton and that’s what he does, he doesn’t make the plays to actually win a game.”
Dalton is sub par. He does just enough to be mediocre, but then he will miss a wide open WR or take an untimely sack or throw a dumb pass.
As for Hooker, I don’t know if anyone is that high on him. PFF has him as a day 3 QB and the highest I’ve seen him projected is at the back of the 2nd round.
I’d be hesitant based on injury and his age. He’s as old as Tua, Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones and Kyler Murray. He’s older than Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, Mac Jones, Justin Fields, Trey Lance and Zach Wilson.

Hooker’s age doesn’t bother me. It could actually be an advantage for a rookie in terms of maturity. And he’s still young enough to play 10+ years easily, assuming health.
I have a gut feeling he’s going to be a better QB than his projection, similar to a guy like Hurts whose draft projection was in a similar range.
When I see a player like Anthony Richardson projected in the first half of the first round I have my doubts about QB scouting. I watched multiple Florida games last year, and although he’s one hell of an athlete his passing skills are lacking big time IMO. Betting on that part of his game improving to NFL level success is not a bet I’d make.

That’s gonna be the case for half of the starting quarterbacks in the league.

It's funny you focused on that and the not winning games ever part. That's the definition of a .500 qb, which Dalton didn't even go.
I have no problem going cheap at qb and drafting hooker rd 2, he's got a big arm and if we hit with him we can retool the roster and get the cap somewhat under control in 3 years.

Why do we think Herndon Hooker is the play? I mean he throws some really good wr screens but I’m not sure if that skill set will transfer well to the nfl

Dalton was an Ingram brain fart away from winning the division and going to the playoffs. I am not saying he is great and was Mahomes but a few games he had this team in a position to win.

sAINTS power ranking at end of season put us at about 26-28 in the league.

The issue isn’t how long he can play. The issue is developmental ceiling as a guy entering the league at age 25. There is a huge learning curve in terms of the league vs college

Or maybe he’s just older and more physically mature than the 18-19 year olds he’s playing against and that’s why he looks so good. Maybe he peaked and won’t develop and will be a bust in the NFL.

Hurts will have signed his 2nd contract before he's Hooker's draft day age.
