If Hooker is drafted, the only logical thing to do is start him immediately. If you do not feel that, as a 25 yr old rookie, Hooker is no better option than Andy Dalton, you do not draft him.

Hooker doesn't need any more maturity and he doesn't get better after camp if he is holding a clipboard for Dalton.

Hooker’s age doesn’t bother me. It could actually be an advantage for a rookie in terms of maturity. And he’s still young enough to play 10+ years easily, assuming health.

And if he needs a year (he will) the trot Hills arse out there, we pay him 90 million a year so get something out of him.

Hendon Hooker is the play

Even if Hooker could go through progressions like a NFL starter, coming off an ACL with our bottom feeding medical team (who with education would choose Nola) it’s a huge risk. Hard pass until the 5th round.

Assuming the Saints lose Winston and go into 2023 with Dalton and Hill it will be stupid not to grab Hooker (or another QB if you feel Hooker's knee is an issue) in the 3rd. There is tremendous up side to this move with little downside. It frees up Hill to remain in his current role, and it possibly gets you your QB of the future, or at the very least a serviceable backup on a rookie contract.

Your title is confusing with the number of "is"

Are you saying he is or asking if he is?

Why do we think Herndon Hooker is the play? I mean he throws some really good wr screens but I’m not sure if that skill set will transfer well to the nfl

You an LSU fan by chance?

He sure as shite threw a lot more than screens against us.

He torched us downfield repeatedly and did to many o team all year.

Why not have a better QB veteran than Dalton, even if we are targeting Hooker????
