So much cap space now. Time to sign everyone.

For that type of money, I'm expecting a playoff run. Average just want cut it for 9 mil per year.

If he was getting paid a dollar a year I would still expect a playoff run.

Don't know if this has been touched on but a five year extension would take him past 2020.

Now if they ripped up his old contract and it's a new five year deal then 2020 would be correct.

Interested to see the actual details.

Is Drew Brees a top 10 Saint of all time?

Why would you think that? Biggest FA bust in history and we signed him to one huge extension and are about to sign him to another.

And I mean he only won the lone super bowl in our history while playing with some of the worst defenses in the league year in and year out.

Last year he had to outplay himself just to have a chance to win.

Scrub.

Best we could afford with the cap Brees left us with.

Yup. We never paid any defender more than minimum with Brees on the roster.

And we certainly didn't sign what was thought to be the best defensive FA in a certain year to a huge contract, though so far he has failed to live up to it.

It's like we don't care about defense at all. We never retain any of our good defensive players either.

Honestly this is a good deal.

Coaches in the NFL are like a revolving door and really never stay in one spot. The average NFL coaching tenure is only about 3 years and that's the same as the average career of an NFL player. Sean Payton will hit ten years this year and he's always been solid with some questionable years, is one of the greatest offensive minds in the game and can really deliver when he has a good team and unless Bill Belichick becomes a free agent or Vince Lombardi or Chuck Noll become zombies, Payton is about as good as it gets in such an unstable and shaky coaching market.

Jeff Ireland said, at least I didn't blow the whole draft on one player.

From the looks of it, we may have gotten 3 starters (peat, Anthony, kikaha) ,2 heavy snap players (Williams and davison), and 2 rotational (tull and swann), a special teamer (Murphy) and lastly a massive project (grayson)

Get another 2-3 starters this year and a couple rotation guys and we'll be solid.

Payton couldn't hold Bruce Arians' jock when it comes to offensive minds.

Sean Payton is over 10 years younger than Arians and has a Super Bowl as HC - something Arians does not.

Troll along.
