If you guys think he’s worth 25 mill next season, then why didnt he get signed this season? You’ve lost your mind now.
Jameis is not getting 25 mill a year next year unless he plays alot in 2020.
SFP logic:
(1) 2020 Jameis is worth 1.1 on the open market. Teddy B gets 20 mill a year
(2) 2021 Jameis is worth 25 mill on the open market. Didnt play at all in 2020. Now worth more than Teddy.
Boy oh boy, this is hilarious.

i don't think he was worth 25M/year on a real contract this offseason. he could have started places and for sure made more than 1M
if he buys into the Saints? he's worth market rate (which is 25M/year +)
we got him on a short, cheap "prove it" deal for 2020

Right. And this situation is going to change that dramatically as Brees backup??? Get real. This is frickery in the highest order.

i'm hoping jameis shows he's worth being our starting QB, which will mean a salary almost assuredly above 25M/year

(Ummmmm cause its not next season and Winston hasn't had time to show anything yet after being fired?)

the guys who make that call will be working with him daily on how serious he takes learning/studying and his maturity, so yeah?

if you are arguing Jameis has to show it on the field in games, then i have to ask: what has Hill shown in games?

Taysom has shown enough for 8mill per year, considering his usage on offense, special teams, and as QB. Done on the field. Guy blocked kick in Nov. 19 last season. Huge playmaker. No one said he would get 25 mill like you said Jameis would get - still hilarious.
Your the dumbass overreacting to it.
And now youre arguing that his deal paired with Jameis if we resigned Jameis for 2021 would be 35 million.
And I said frick no, Jameis is NOT getting that kind of money unless he plays a lot and well in 2020. Mid teens prove it deal tops if he rides the pine.
Saints played this well and you just need to chill out already. Got Taysom and Jameis for 9.1 in 2020.
And if we resign Jameis it WONT be Taysom and Jameis for 35 million in 2021, unless Jameis replaces Brees (Injury etc) in 2020 and does well.

glad you included ALL the reasons why he got $8M, but i'm not asking about his salary
assuming Brees doesn't get hurt in 2020 and he retires afterwards, what in-game play AT QB will Jameis or Hill show in 2020 to justify being starter?

we'd be lucky to sign a shitty starting QB for $17M/year
i assume if we commit to Jameis, then we won't think he's shitty

why does he have to play well and Hill doesn't? that's the question i was asking, leading to this response

Got Taysom and Jameis for 9.1 in 2020
how many times do i have to say that i don't care about 2020 and it's irrelevant to this discussion?
we're talking about 2021 and beyond

why are you holding Jameis to a different standard than Hill?

How many times do you have to point that out to deflect?
Now we're talking 2021 and your dumb arse just insisted that Taysom and Jameis if resigned would command 35 million.

How many times do I have to point out that Taysom is not getting your ballyhoo'd 25 million and Taysom's contract is reasonable for all the reasons' mentioned.

that Taysom is not getting your ballyhoo'd 25 million
he would need to prove his status as a starting qb after his 16.9 million tryout year.

Jeff Duncan disagrees with your premonition, which you still don't understand, yet cite to support your argument.

Don't kid yourself. That contract extension wasn't for his gadget role. It was to lock him up as the long-term starting QB and reward him for being a team guy in the process.

This can only be for the better, but shouldn't it be concerning that he didn't do this years ago?

This isn't directed at you SFP, but on the Teddy/Winston debate they are pretty different qbs.
Teddy averages 225 yards, 31.5 attempts, 1.12 tds, and 0.74 ints per start (34; his numbers are worse per game). He has a career 65.2 comp%, 7.2 ypa, and a 8.3 sack%. He averages. 3.3 ypc on 133 carries.
Winston averages 282 yards, 36.4 attempts, 1.73 tds, and 1.26 ints per start (70). He has a career 61.3 comp%, 7.7 ypa, and a 6.2 sack%. He averages 4.2 ypc on 248 carries.
If the half a game td difference doesn't seem like a lot, consider the difference would be 8 tds over the course of a year (one every other game).
So you see Teddy on average makes fewer passes for less yards per pass, finds the end zone less but takes sacks and takes care of the ball more to prevent ints.
While Winston has been asked to air it out more for more yards per attempt, scores more td, but also takes more chances and forces the ball more instead of taking more sacks.
Rushing avg aside neither actually runs that often (Teddy has about 4 runs a games and Winston about 3.5).
Career passer rating is also pretty even, with Teddy having a slight edge at 88.3 to 86.9
So I mean you can try to say Teddy isn't a game manager, but the numbers say he leans much more that way.

it is but there are a lot of guys who are as/more talented than Winston who didn't take things seriously and got along on talent alone, like Winston, who were out of the league by 26

Taysom Hill has shown he's worth his contract for sure so far.
