Sinking $150 million into a QB who probably should be a backup at this point in his career is certainly one of our many problems.

If we lose 4 games right out of the gate DA has to make a move. Either go all in with taysom or see if one of the young guys can give us a spark. DA would have nothing to lose at that point.

While I do agree we shouldn’t have paid him that much, he is still the least of your offensive problems right now. The fact is that we paid him, we should at least try to give him a chance to live up to it and you do that by building a halfway decent O-Line. We have failed in that regard

No $$ for a O-line when you spend $150 million on a bridge/backup quarterback. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

They don't even have money for AC in the meeting rooms cause of that 150 mil contract. Its crazy.

This is the correct answer. Too many people are going to blame Carr, but if this O line doesn't get it together it won't matter who you have as QB.

Yup - Carr isn’t the answer to the problems, but he’s not amongst the biggest couple problems himself either.

That said, your qb typically needs to be a plus player and not just neutral

Hopefully this doesn't give Allen an 'out' due to the front office saying, "Oh Carr is only looking bad because of no pass protection"

If that gives this front office a reason to keep Allen none of it matters anyway. I happen to think the problems go right down to the bone of ownership, because if the owner was serious about making their team a winner they would not look at these as reasons to keep a coach or a manager.

Ultimately, we are in this position with pass protection because the Saints have thrown serious draft capital at the problem and haven't been able to draft or coach themselves out of it.

The buck stops where? It's certainly not with the fans, who spend their hard-earned money to watch someone who married into ownership give them the finger with apathy.

lol
Allen will get an extension from Gayle and Carr will continue putting up big numbers in 4th qtr garbage time. They’ll talk about how much progress they are making

You are an idiot. Hes not the best out there. But you don’t finish in the top ten or right outside of it in every major passing statistic and say he should be a backup at this point.

HRs the definition of an average starter in the nfl. Without a great defense or the right pieces around him, your team will be mediocre.

They're paying him too much. Unless one of the rookie contracts is a savant, we're riding the Carr.

Both should hold the door for Mickey Loomis's exit first. We could get better coaches, but no exceptional coach will take this job with the next 3 years salary cap issues.

We win the opener against Carolina and then go on a 5 game losing skid, only to come home and play, you guessed it, Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos, who will completely obliterate us at home in the Dome, with many Saints fans cheering for the away team. Then Sean will walk off the field, wave to the fans, and mouth “your welcome”, and then DA is ceremoniously fired the next morning.

The reality is this:

1. The Saints have a reluctant owner. Reluctant in the sense of she never actively wanted to own a football team. She simply inherited it. She doesn't want to operate it at all. Thus, she leaves the entirety of the operations to Dennis Lauscha and Loomis. They have complete autonomy to do as they see fit. That autonomy means Loomis is not firing himself (similar to how Dallas can't get an independent GM).

2. The Saints, because they didn't have the "liquidity" to afford Carr in the first place, chose to restructure him again this season. That means his cap number next year is $50 million. It also means the only reasonable way Carr isn't the starting QB next season is if (a) he retires and the Saints can restructure his owed payout, (b) the Saints decide Rattler or Haener are good enough to absorb eating a huge cap number (even if they negotiate it down to some degree) for a back up QB, or (c) something wildly unexpected happens.

Even if Rattler were to play this year and prove to be the second coming of Brett Favre, the Saints will still have Carr's huge cap number to deal with. That means they would either have to eat it, thus leaving little money to put a good supporting cast around Rattler. Or keep him on as one of the most expensive backup QBs in NFL history...while still having little money to build a team around Rattler.
