I'm not really interested in trading Griffin for what he is worth. I'm not too comfortable with McCown (despite how bad Griffin looked last night) if Brees goes down. We would be worse off than StL is now.

which would be the case regardless. Griffin and McCown arent a substitute. Griffin may be a practice squad guy. if someone offers you a 5th or a 6th, you take it. much higher chance of grabbing someone who can make this team in those rounds for us.

Maybe Rams message boards will start "Should we go after Andrew Luck" threads

On Griffin, I wouldn't. I see more upside in him than McCown

Griffin isn't going anywhere. He's got the #2 job locked now

Is who they should go get imo. I'd like a 5th for Griffin though. He's not the heir to Brees.

I honestly think Vick and Cousins would be their best bet. We've seen what Sanchez and Mallett can do.

Which is why I truly believe McCown wins the backup job. He can run the offense, while Griffin (who shows promise) chucks the ball down the field.

I honestly think we lose Griffin to another team this time around

Griffin outplayed McCown in the first 2 preseason games, and I'd hardly call completing only 30% of your passes running an offense.

I think with how loaded this team is you go with the veteran who could fill in as opposed to the extremely rough inexperienced player.

Though we are screwed either way if Brees goes down.

Agreed. Realistically, we're probably looking at a 6th for Griffin. I'd rather Griffin...

This dude has made soooo much bank for absolutely nothing in return. Last of the big money rookie contracts and he is examplemuthafrickingA why they capped that shite.

Seems like the team wants Griffin to win the job, but I wouldn't say it's a lock yet.

I agree. The team wants him to win the job (as do I), but it isn't locked up yet. Makes me wonder why McCown got the 1st team reps v's Indy. Griffin had the pleasure of working with the 2's and 3's. I still say Griffin wins the QB2 job. With that being said, I would consider offering McCown as trade bait.

McCown is still probably your backup anyway
That's who you want if Brees were to go down
If you can get a draft pick I would trade Griffin because although he was ok during preseason he is not the heir apparent to Brees and in 4/5 years he won't be on the roster anyway

You have no clue what you're talking about. The Saints aren't letting go of Griffin. I know that for a fact.

They keep him whether that be 2 or 3 QBs on the roster

The coaching staff is letting him get tape with the 1s so another team can pick him up. I dont see the Saints trading either backup. But I think they keep 2

You don't think that we could transform ourselves into a power running team with a great defense and be successful for a few games this season? It wouldn't be ideal and we wouldn't light up the scoreboard but I think we have the personnel.

Saints could win 6-7 games without Brees.
