I’m told the New Orleans Saints, another team with two picks in round one, will consider trading up if they feel they are in striking distance of Vic Beasley. Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan loves Beasley’s pass rushing ability and potential in a 3-4.

Um, I sure hope this isn't true. I am tired of us trading UP all the time. We finally get a decent amount of pics, and we are yet again going to subtract from what we have. at least they are targeting position of need if this is true

I don't care who we take, if we have to give up 31 to trade up to X spot from 13, I'm strongly against it.

Me Too !!

Basically we gave Jimmy Graham and the 13th pick- for Vic Beasley and C Max Unger.

I would be SICK if that happens!!

Same here. If we can do it without sacrificing 31, I'd be able to swallow it better. I still won't like it much

The Saints trade their 31st pick in this draft, their 1st round pick in 2016, Junior Galette & pick #148 (5th round) in this draft to the Redskins to move up to spot #5. There we take OLB Vic Beasley. At pick #13 we take Bud Dupree. Inside linebacker Stephone Anthony falls to us at pick #44 in the second round. At pick #75 we take CB Senquez Golson & at pick #78 we take guard Ali Marpett.

What was once a liability becomes a strength. We go from being unathletic & slow at LB to having one of the most athletic linebacker corps in the NFL. We also pick up the corner with the best ball skills in the draft to play slot corner. With Marpett we get a young guard who has a major upside. Payton, Loomis & Ireland leave the draft in Chicago in this manner.

Give up that 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder, sure.

That late 1st pick is money:
2012: Baltimore (29th) -> Minny 2nd (35th) and 4th (98th)
2012: Denver (25th) -> NE 1st (31st) and 4th (126th)
2012: Denver (31st) and 4th (126th) -> TB 2nd (36th) and 4th (101st)
Ultimately: 25th -> 2nd (36th) and 4th (101st)
2013: NE (29th) -> Minny 2nd (52nd), 3rd (83rd), 4th (102nd), and 7th (229th)

Ideally, the goal at 31 is an ILB or WR, and there's probably 4 total that would be ideal at that spot...even getting the 3xth pick will get who you want. Of course, unless you're getting someone like Kendricks you stay put.

These fricks better not trade up. They had the #9 draft spot locked up and decided to play starters and feel good about beating 3rd string TB laying on the ground. Stay put or trade back.

Don't bring that up. Over half the people here will say #9 vs #13 and giving a divisional opponet the #1 pick doesn't matter.

I really want Beasley. We have enough picks to trade up but I don't want to lose the 31st pick. If they can figure something out to get us Beasley and keep our late first rounder I would be ecstatic.

You are giving up waaaaaaaaaay to much. According to the chart giving up our 13 & 31 is enough to move to 5. Or give up our 13 and next years 1st would be enough.

Trading Junior would make absolutely no sense. Why? Because we'd be on the hook for an additional 10.75mil trading him.

Meaning, we'd be 7.36mil over the cap and that isn't signing any rookies. Not happening

Oh trust me, I know. Since they're better fans than me, I just defer to their opinion that it was a good move to win

In the scenario I threw out there we keep the 13th to pick to take Bud Dupree. I threw in Galette because drafting both Beasley & Dupree would create a log jam at OLB. Somebody would have to be moved. The 5th rounder was added because the team would need to compensate Washington for agreeing to take on a large portion of Galette's salary to offset the cap hit similar to how the Saints had to throw in the 4th rounder in the Jimmy Graham deal.

That's right, it's not like teams ever negotiate these type of financial matters to offset the numbers.

Same here. It sounds like something they would do; they have a strong tendency to always move up...they have no patience.

I would be on board 100% in trading 13th this year and 1st next year to get a damn LB'er worth a sh!t.
Also still have picks at 31 and in 2nd round to add another ILB and a guard. Get a real LB'er corp not scrubs and solidify the o-line and it will be a good draft to me.
