I’m sure the Saints were intent to keep him before he started to become a malcontent. I’ll melt after we see compensation.

Would you have preferred to tank the season?

Once Jameis was hurt, yes.

There is no point to be middling.

That's the problem with all of these bad moves. They force more bad moves and it severely limits your ceiling. They send you to the middle. We're nowhere near done with these moves b/c we'll have to restructure Hill, again, and then restructure maye/mathieu, and then limit our ceiling in the future, too.

Full trade terms: Eagles receive safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Saints’ 7th-round pick in 2025. Saints receive the Eagles’ 5th-round pick in 2023 and the worse of their two 6th-round picks in 2024.

I mean look at what we're paying 2nd/3rd rate safeties like Maye and TM7. Williams + young guy costs less and is a better combo.

First of all you basically got 2 safeties for the cost of williams.

I wouldn't call them 3rd rate safeties. Maye is a very good player. Is going to surprise some people.

As far as taysom he got that contract because he was still a qb. It's basically what a decent backup qb gets paid on top of his other responsibilities.

Then sprinkle in a little sean payton favoritisn and you have his contract. You are being disingenuous.

So we net almost nothing b/c we send them a 7th, too

Wtf man.
I assume front office liked our options at safety and didn’t see him worth the asking price next offseason.
Nice to get a little draft capital but damn, he was so fun to have on your side.

Alight well this trade fricking sucks and it's obvious it was just to dump a malcontent.

So we could have kept him, let him walk, and still gotten better picks from the compensatory??

I probably would have just let him be a malcontent all year.

I mean, did we HAVE to include a 7th as well? I don’t particularly care about the pick, but just the idea behind it. Did Philly say no deal if we didn’t include that 7th?

Yes.

We could have kept him, benched him, and gotten much better value in comp picks.
