All I got to say about this is that Cook has to be one of the happiest players in the league right now!!

Not at all.

I'm comparing a stupid point you made with a similar move a fantastic FO made.....

It's not a stupid point when you look back at the history of this FO. Bad picks, bad signings, dead money, etc

I hope I'm wrong, but they haven't given me much of a reason to believe they've figured out what they're doing

We could've had butler the patriots have gotten rich off of another pathetic front office. You never see them making these deals with Pitt of Dallas or Denver, they abuse weak teams and steal their best players like they've done to us.

Care to explain how we could have had a player who wasn't eligible to be traded?

Bottom line is the FO wanted to move Cooks asap, wanted Butler but knew they couldn't get him asap so they panicked and took the next best offer.

There's speculation Butler wasn't included because we couldn't get a long term deal done with him. But we decided to do trade anyway.

I doubt that's it.

Prettt sure we could offer him whatever it took. No, the reason why he wasn't traded was because he didn't sign that tender. He probably wants to stay with NE but I doubt contract talks even took place between Saints FO and Butler's agent

I mean shite, we can pay him $8 mil this season alone with the wiggle room we have in cap

I think Cook is a good WR if you have a good QB to throw it to him.

I don't think he is dominant on a team where he elevates a QB.

He will do well on the Pats.

Cooks should do fine on the Pats but honestly I don't see it working out for him. Gronk is the #1 with Edelman because the next option. Brady doesn't have the arm to throw the homerun ball, which is what Cooks is good for.

Honesty I'm surprised the Patriots traded for him or any receiver at all.

If there's not more to this trade (trading the 3rd round pick back for Butler) this sucks arse.

We have Thomas and Snead. The player we take at 32 is more valuable to us. I really don't get the melt.

Why does our fanbase struggle with names like CookS and Daniel(s)?

Maybe they actually didn't get offered what everyone else was "reporting" and this was the best the Saints got.

Something tells me they wanted to trade Brandin Cooks. I would have kept him if that was the best offer but it's not an awful trade. We overvalue the players we see all the time. That's why so many people on this board are on their rags about drafting LSU players every year. We're all familiar with them.

Cooks wins in this deal. The Saints have two first round picks now and they didn't give up their second. They have three picks in the top 43. The two first rounders are going to be cost controlled for five years. This was Cooks' market. The Saints took their best offer.

No, I mean there was a reason they were set on doing this.
