He any good?

Only guy in the big 10 with more sacks and tackles for a loss than Baun is a fella named Chase Young (#2 overall).

He got popped for a diluted sample. Doesn’t count as a “failed test”. But, it def made him fall in this draft as expected

Something the public isn’t privy too I guess

quote:

Zack Baun (as an EDGE) graded as the 5th best EDGE among all Power 5 qualifiers in 2019 89.7 - OVR grade.

He also graded as the 4th best defensive player in the Big Ten, regardless of position.

His 21.0% pressure rate was third best in the Big Ten.

He is an absolute steal in the 3rd round. Late bloomer as he was a qb in high school. Classic under-recruited in state guy that my badgers have lived on.

Did have some injury troubles a couple years ago

His other option out of high school was South Dakota St

What I like about him is his ability to sit in zone coverage. He’s really good at it. Good awareness and instincts

Link? That would be worrisome. Did he play all games the years after?

It was 2 years ago. Don’t think he had any issues after. I find it hard to believe that is what got him flagged.

I know nothing about him

Can pass rush and run stuff really well and run side to side in coverage. Not great in coverage (but better than Klein imo). Can play stand up but can also drop down to rush at times if needed.

Too light to play full time DE at the moment, but we likely will keep him at OLB anyway. Just needs to work on his coverage.
