Nice find. I imagine he's in for the minimum this year to keep us from having to make any moves. Likely the same for Morgan.

We gave him $1.2m per, only 200k less than the RFA tender for Collins that we chose not to do. Seems to me this was not a money move, but I guess we'll have to see what Collins gets.

frick, when three years rolls around and all the cap hit is backloaded, we'll be screwed.

I think we'll only see the all in for now push increase the coming years since Brees passed 35. I can buy in for another Lombardi. The sooner the better too. If we got another SB win next year ya know Brees would still be back. If it's not for another two or three years, then the chance that he retires on the win increases exponentially.

The things about Lorig that stood out are:

- How athletic he was even at a position that is known for being basically a grunt work position he stood out for his athletic ability at the position.

- His strength to plow through a hole and drive a guy back 12 yds, 15 yds even chipping off a block and getting in the flat and catching a pass and running over a LB

- His tenacity and willingness to do what he did and do it damn good

Again like I said really gonna miss him and I think Tedford really had some stuff planned to use these factors and he was just too burned from Schiano after being in Tampa his whole career and being treated like he was Lovie and Tedford really wanted to keep him and he is one of the very few handful of guys on our offense you can say that about, that says a lot to me.

Good post. Glad to see some insight on him from someone who has watched him a lot.

Like I said he was burned out on Tampa, Lovie basically asked him what price range he wanted and he told him he wanted out so Lovie didn't waste any more of his time

I think Coach will use him primarily as a blocker for Ingram.

So Lorig's cap hit is $1.05 M this year. I am not sure if it was worth it to strap the cap that much this season for a fullback, but better than back loading it too much I guess.

Here are his contract cap hits by year:
2014 = $1.05 M
2015 = $1.05 M
2016 = $1.30 M
2017 = $1.40 M

Sarcasm? If not, they couldn't have gone that much cheaper(I think $730,000 minimum).

Also, based on Collins' comments the Saints told him they felt like they found an upgrade in Lorig so there's that. Definitely not a money move because that's pretty cheap for a good, young FB.
