Young had an ACDF which is he same procedure Danielle Hunter had in October 2020. Apparently the Saints have some first-hand knowledge of these procedures/recovery timelines which is why they were comfortable signing him.

Hunter returned the following season, but he had his surgery several months ahead of Young. I think there's a chance he doesn't come back until mid-season which is fine. Let the non-productive Turner/Foskey get reps.

- Cam Jordan had ankle surgery, he had a high and low ankle sprain last season

- Mike McDaniel on Cedrick Wilson: “A phenomenal player that truly evolved at the receiver position in our offense. He is capable of participating in innumerable ways and can come through in the clutch, even if it’s in the fourth quarter,” he said.

Realistically you’d want him to play a full season though, to properly evaluate him.

I think it's more important he has enough recovery / ramp-up training time as possible so he doesn't injure a different bodypart. In fact, Hunter tore his pec after 6 games in 2021 and that might have had something to do with the long layoff.

I also think it's important to bet on this guy for the long-term (Look at Hunter's post-fusion stats). I'm not necessarily as concerned with this season as having him in the program and getting him re-signed for 2025 and beyond personally.

I mean agree with this but the problem is he signed a one year deal with no guarantee hes resigning with the Saints. Its not really a long term investment then. You basically signed him to give production in 2024.

I get that. I just figure he’d likely stick with us because we bet on him, and the fact that we will have room for him to sign an extended deal coming up in the next couple years when Cam retires

Feels like that typical point where in these protracted potential deals the pendulum swings back in the way you hope things will play out, but you still expect the opposite to happen

I don't think anyone was counting on Young to come in and blow it up for the Saints. We're all hopeful but his recent history and now the surgery mean he was a lottery ticket as some other have perfectly stated it. The true details of his contract mean the Saints will pay peanuts for him of he's not actually on the game day roster for whatever reason.

IMO, this season is a let's figure out what we have with Foskey, Turner and now Young. Young in theory being the decided most capable of producing if history is any indication. Could be that none of them warrant resigning after this season and If Young blows it up and we can't afford to keep him going forward then he will have had an monster season for us and we should be winning a lot of games.

Also don't rule out add another edge rusher early in this draft.

Sure- maybe. But these are all hypotheticals. Reality is if he does play say 7 games and is productive- he’s a free agent thats going to go where the money is. This is also assuming that DA is still the coach here as well- could very well be a new staff in place. Regardless, it seems like a player who likely starts out on PUP and if he can produce the last couple of games- Saints would be satisfied. If he goes on IR- Chase just collects a paycheck.

I could be wrong but I see Turner being the best option and pray that he stays healthy. Honestly wouldn’t surprise me if Foskey gets cut if he doesn’t significantly improve and almost postive Chase starts out on IR or PUP. Like you said I really hope they get some guys in the draft.

We can hope but I honestly couldn't expect that from him. I know Young has been banged up a little too but I feel like his is not chronic injury problems like Turner seems to be. I feel like if there was any other option Turner would be gone already. Potential only gets you so far and he is near that end.

Foskey is a question mark. Haven't seen enough of him to know but the potential is there. I think he gets a longer chain because he's in his rookie deal but he has to take a big step forward this season.

No it's not. You pay them to play them and then go to the next game. Sitting out is rough and paying someone to do it is worse. Now the Saints made a 5 mil two way bet. He can help to win a division and they can sign him again. Either one of these will make the bet worthwhile.

Turner and Young have both been really injured and frankly I’ll put my money on the guy thats not getting neck surgery. Turner when healthy has made an impact- hes just never healthy.

Foskey is bad man. I honestly dont think the Saints have much faith in him. You could tell DA was surprised how bad Foskey was. No one expected him to bd this terrible.

I know everybody is focusing on Young, but this really encourages me. I was much more excited about this signing than most people on here. If AT Perry makes the jump we all hope, him, Olave, Shaheed, and Wilson is a nice core that can be added to in the middle rounds of the draft and even UDFA. Who was that guy that we picked up last year that was a great athlete and looked good early in camp before signing to the PS and getting hurt? Is he still with the team and healthy again?

some want to believe in Perry because draftniks liked him more than actual scouts, but he’s a 24 year old, 6th round draft pick with hand issues, the likelihood of him being more than a marginal contributor is pretty low…we shouldn’t be satisfied with this WR room as it stands, especially because the QB is already mediocre to begin with

If Saints win more than 6 games, I'll be surprised. Offense is terrible. Defense is aging. Can't draft worth a crap.

DraftKings has the Saints sitting at 7.5 right now. They must have just released that because I've been sort of lurking for that info.

I'll wait to make my season win total pick until later. I'd like to collect more than some pre-draft ballpark and we can revisit this number as it won't be the same especially after the schedule release.

Leaning over:

Win 4/6 divisional games
Beat WAS/DEN/Raiders or Rams at home
Beat NYG or LAC on the road

Coaching and an actual scheme alone will do wonders on offense

Also like +390 to win the division. ATL at 10.5 is really fricking rich
