I think we would all like to have some more depth at LB but I think it is critical that the Saints aquire a run stuffing DT. Not a 3-tech like Ellis or Pressley, but a true run stuffer. I believe that is the only thing we are missing on the d-line, we have good DEs, a disrutive 3tech in Ellis, etc. We just need that Hollis Thomas type in the rotation to help defend the run. It was evident tonight that the run defense wasn't too hot and it's been reported on all through training camp.

I'd much rather the Saints spend some of the 5/6mil they have left in cap space on a DT rather than some ancient LB who will see limited reps.

Whom would you suggest? Which DT is available on the market right now?

I agree..Im worried about the run defense w/o a run stuffing DT. Throughout training camp Ive been hearing this is one of the biggest worries.

I think they may be hoping a veteran run stuffing DT getting cut to pick up

I keep wondering if Charles Grant can play DT next to Ellis. That would let McCray spend more time at DE. Anyone think this would work? Grant, Smith, McCray and Ellis would be the front four (eventually).

Exactly. Clancy looked good and I like Hargrove. Maybe he can stay clean because that would be quite a coup for the Saints.

I thought hargrove looked really good and clancy played good. I don't think we need to bring in anybody, just need more reps and time to gel. that's what preseason is for. Plus, GW is supposed to rotate some DE at the DT position is certain packages. FWIW, Shanle played pretty well last night. I still think we need a capable starting WLB brought in to fill the situational 3-4 role and backup that side.

We need an OLB more than a DT ,and I would like to see the guys we got play together more before saying we need DT.

there are always DTs who are too fat on the cutting block every year

shite grady jackson may be a FA right now. he's always good for being a fatass in the DL, which is what we need

Thats nice on Passing downs but we still need DT who can stop the run...And none of those players are big enough to eat blocks up

They did and I think Hargrove lived up to the hype...But both guys arent really great run stoppers.
