I can be sold on McCarthy. His defenses are usually top 10. His offenses are explosive as well. His only caveat is that he chokes hard in the playoffs. But that makes me think, is that just the Dallas players (mainly Dak being total arse) stigma or is it actually McCarthy?

McCarthy would be a solid hire . He's a good coach and has proven it in Dallas and GB. He posted 12 win season is 2 or the 4 years in Dallas/ He's lack of post season success IMO is more a result of Dallas than Him( I know He is the HC he IS Dallas) Anyway, Who's the last HC to have great success working for jerry jones? Yea, gotta go back a long way. Then look at that team. I might have been able to get them deep into the playoffs.
Chicago will be the top suitor for McCarthy but IMO the Saints will be an attractive off for him as well. Chicago is a young team and is kinda set in their direction. (For good or Bad) The Saints are going to be a clean slate for him or any new HC to build the way they want. BUT, it's going to take a year or two to start to see that take shape.
I also still think there's an outside chance that Jones makes a play to get McCarthy back. Maybe like how team let players go out and test the market to find their worth then re-sign them. (long shot but not 0%)

McCarthy interview scheduled for early next week.

Virtual interviews with 3 coordinators a day or two before the division games? I don't buy that for a second. Unless it's 11pm at night in their pajamas in a hotel.

They did it with Glenn.
There's aren't depth interviews that take hours They're initial contact interviews and very general in nature.

If McCarthy doesn’t get hired by Chicago, he will 100% be the Saints next coach

Saints can do a lot worse than McCarthy.
He may be just what this team needs in order to get the most out of the situation Loomis put the team in.

So no more wining and dining? Showing potential places to live? No sales pitch? Wal Mart doesn't even do that.

He’s a safe bet. Loomis has to get this hire right and I’m not sure what McCarthys ceiling is but his floor is high enough to keep Mickey from getting fired.

Yea they will get an person interviews in the next stage.
They can only virtually interview coaches that are still in the playoffs.
Also have to do in person interviews to satisfy the Rooney Rule.

Loomis may have been speaking directly to Mike in yesterday's press conference when he said the next HC would be heavily involved in the unified direction of the team going forward and have full control over his staff and the QB situation.

Now that I’ve let the McCarthy availability settle in a bit I find myself still liking Aaron Glenn as my #1 HC hopeful with him reaching out to Kubiak and keeping him onboard to let his plan play out throughout the rebuild. And give him the call on Carr, keep or move on.
I think McCarthy is a close second with Brady third so far. Any of those three and IMO the saints win.

if hired a out side coach, does the interim coach go back to his orignal role? would rizzi go back to special teams?
Posted on 1/15/25 at 4:10 pm to goatmilker
Hire Kingsbury and Brady.

I’m sure the new HC would love to have Rizzi back a ST coordinator but it ain’t happening.
Assuming Rizzi doesn’t get the job.

I thought no way after the Raiders game. However, I find two things odd.
1.) We have not interviewed anyone for the better part of a week.
2.) Loomis making it a point in the presser that all current coaches are still employed. Seems like a non sequitur.
The setup is there. We are the only NFL team that would give the job to an interim that went 3-5. Absolutely sickening.
