Are we against drafting a QB rather it be a 1st or 2nd rounder?

This next draft cycle has some good prospects. Do we attempt?

Or do we hit FA like we did w/ Winston? Both have pro and cons.

But IMO we need to make a move after this season.

Would be nice to have a 1st rounder in this draft, but Mickey traded that away for a mid first in last year's draft.

I'm assuming we will at least get 1-2 first round picks for Sean Payton. Seems highly likely he will be the HC of a team before the 2023 draft.

Our next concern is DT/ Edge.

We barely have any sacks this year.

Saints got very lucky Brees was on the market and Chargers had Rivers at that time
Free agent QB's worth a damn rarely hit the market these days
To get a QB in the draft, it's become a crapshoot. You may hit but you need to be in top half of draft which of course Saints won't be next year so you are back to another year of uncertainty until the following draft
Trading for a QB would mean giving up a lot of draft capital
You just hope someone gets disgruntled, maybe like a Burrow who keeps getting sacked and who knows if the Bengals will pay up or not

We already 4 1st tied up in the DL, find one in 3-5 rounds so they do t have that high of expectations…. Oh wait, we had Hendrickson and let him walk…

With all do respect…

We should have been making moves 10 years ago.

Our QB situation now is directly related to the piss poor management of Sean Payton.

Last draft was the best time/qb draft that they could've made a move. Nope.

To draft Kenny Pickett or Desmond fricking Ridder? Last year was a terrible QB Draft.

Colleges don’t prep QBs for the pros anymore. They get a shotgun, dual-threat (which means he’s just good enough to throw and run for college, but not for the NFL) athlete that can play in a system where the coach reads the defense and then signals in the play.

Last years QB class was pretty weak, though it would have been worth a flyer on Willis or Howell.

My only concern with Taysom is injuries and fumbling. Teams cannot pin their ears back on him as he can take off, they also need a spy. We have so many weapons that can make him look better. He's just a baller. I don't hate Winston, have been bashed within the last week for rooting for him on here, but 3 weeks is enough with how bad that play has been. Hill is the absolute perfect stop gap at his age, we are already paying him, get a few years out of him and look hard to find a young QB. Even with his questionable arm strength, with guys like Landy, MT, Kamara he can make it work. Also, his velocity may not be great but he can get it down the field to Olave.

I rooted for Winston but damn, usually I'd give a full month, but ready to let him heal up and see what TH can do with these WRs. If he does well keep him playing, if not go back to Winston or try Dalton.

ETA: I understand he holds on to the ball too long, and our Oline is average at the very best right now. But, last year there was absolutely NO weapons for him to utilize, even Kamara missed time. People can't just load the box on him now. There was a game last year I remember it being pointed out there would be 2 spies on him, that's ridiculous, but when Calloway is your biggest threat at WR, you can do that on D.

Everyone seems to assume this. That is a huge assumption. He may not coach and even if he does, I would expect the return to be less than the huge haul that everyone assumes. Based on their relationship, if Payton does return to coaching, I cannot see Mickey standing in his way by demanding too much compensation.

My concern with Taysom is coaching not knowing how to properly scheme a system with a power run qb as well as injuries.
