re: Saints first 2 picks could fix our DL

DA has always been hyper-focused on stopping the run with our front 4 and primary off ball LB.
That's a large task for smaller DEs in combination with our 2 pass-rush first DTs we just signed (along with shite depth)
Also, if SP was the drive behind bigger DEs, and DA isn't a fan, then how did that synergy even work?
Underhill gets access to pump sunshine. His objectivity clearly was shed once he had to make fans feel good after SP left.

I thought the same. Sean is an offensive guy. I would think that he would have consulted DA on the type of players he wants for his defense. Tendencies may change on offense but I doubt much changes on Defense. Sean stuck his nose in the defense one time when he tried to recreate the legion of doom and that was a complete disaster. I believe he learned his lesson after that and him and DA seemingly had a good relationship

Ika in round 2
Ika left LSU specifically b/c we changed to a 4-3 defense.

I don’t see anything special talent wise with Ojulari.

Yeah ika is a 3-4 0 or 1 tech

Keeanu Benton is the DT we should target in Rd 2
Ike is a space eating NT who can’t move. He’d be useless in our scheme

If our other DI options are pass rushers primarily (especially a tiny one in round 1), we need a gap control guy to pair with them.
It doesn't have to be Ika.
If we had a top-10 pick, we'd have options for an all-around guy. We don't and have to pick flawed guys.

I thought my 1-year old nephew cried a lot until I read your posts

Unless Dennis Allen changes his philosophy, we always have big strong DEs that are good against the run, not smaller quicker types that are weak against the run.
He drafted Khalil Mack whose measurements were 6’3” 251. BJ was 6’2” 248.

Jonathon Sullivan
Sedrick Ellis
and that's when we moved up into the Top 10 and took both of those dudes.
so yeah, that shite is overrated.

Only top 10 defensive tackle is Jalen Carter and he is basically Johnathan Sullivan 2.0

Jonathan Sullivan was never mentioned as a #1 overall quality player. Carter is clearly having psychological issues due to the car wreck incident. He's not just a lazy guy who never produced like an elite player like Sullivan.
Biggest melt I've ever had as a Saints fan was when we picked Sullivan over Trufant. We needed CBs, I've always supported the value of CBs, and Trufant was a very good to elite CB...and we picked a DT half a round early (minimum) who is one of the historic NFL busts.

Flawed guys?
Just cause you are picking late in round one doesn't mean it will be a flawed player.
You definitely don't draft a player who doesn't fit your system.
Jeff ireland has a very strict guideline he goes by. I actually think he misses out on productive players by following only those guidelines.
