I've supported the players the whole time in this. Because I think the outrage is people don't want to believe what they are actually kneeling for is going on.
I tell people instead of bitching why don't we try listening to what they are trying to say instead of yelling faux outrage.
It would be hypocritical of me not to give the same leverage to this veteran. He has the exact same right to refuse as the players did to kneel. So if the I support the players right to kneel then I support his right to refuse an award.
I think the saints response is a little petty and that kills me to say that. It could have been handled a little better.
My humble opinion is that you're ahead of your time or you are a very logical person.
It might take a while. Hopefully it happens in my lifetime. This country will be united eventually.

The kneeling during the anthem was to cause a disrespectful scene.
Otherwise they would be protesting at police stations.
They literally kneeled during the most distasteful time and location possible during their entire week of life.

Then don't kneel during the National Anthem....... the Flag is the symbol of the military, not the police and sheriff's offices across the country.

The flag is not the damn symbol of the military. They have their own symbols.
The flag symbolizes the entirety of the US if anything.

They died for the flag?!?

people that booing when the Protest takes place during the National Anthem
So they disrespect the flag and the anthem by booing the players during the anthem because they think kneeling is disrespectful to the flag?

The United States flag represents...well the United States

faux outrage is evident. They did this once and haven't done it since.

What are the protests about? If you polled all the players on the Saints, you'd get atleast 20 different answers.
I'm not inferring that these protests are about disrespecting the military, I'm inferring a majority of them are just doing it because it's the "in" thing.

Funny how they keep saying its not about disrespect with compelling evidence from every state and thousands perhaps millions of citizens saying every day..."yes it is disrespectful."
A million upon a million ways to protest and get your message out. What they are doing I would never do and many others are expressing the same view point.

Because the NFL liked the millions of dollars they were getting from the Dept of Defense.

Then stop protesting during the raising of the flag and the playing of our anthem, which are symbols of what the military protects and dies for.
Where s fricking headband or some other ridiculous shite

Players are doing it before the anthem and standing during it and are still getting booed.
So what is it?
So what is it?

I’m really just tired of this shite. Our fans boo the team before the games for kneeling BEFORE the anthem, even though they stand during it. Even that’s offensive apparently.

He's a retired Navy Commander. Do you really think snowflake is the word to describe him?

And flying the Confederate flag is not about honoring white supremacy or slavery. But most of your ilk don't buy that argument, just as I don't buy yours.

If he was calling the media to shite on them, they can come back at him.
Of course they can but it is rather stupid to attack the veteran they intended to honor. The Saints and the NFL really need a new PR team.

Whether you agree with their position or not It isn't really that far-fetched to belive that a bunch of black players think the black community is treated unfairly by police. You by no means have to agree with them but to say a majority are doing it just the hell of it pretty far fetched.

frick the players. They took a knee in protest before the anthem during a moment of silence to honor a cop (black cop too btw) who was murdered in the line of duty by a career criminal. Now the front office has shown their stupidity by releasing a statement that comes off as very a-hole-ish in response to this Navy vet declining their award offer.
