Saints could have had Jared Goff or Baker Mayfield in trades 2-3 years ago.

But NO we had the Saviour, Jameis Winston ready to replace Brees. Now we've overpaif for an underwhelming Carr. Should have just turned the reins over to T Hill and see where that ride would have taken the Saints.

You think Winston or Carr are better? One had the better upside,

Yes, but even Detroit was contemplating trade offers for Goff after that trade.

Mayfield only cost $8M he was definitely a better option than Carr for $100M especially for a cap stretched team. Even if they make the playoffs i seriously doubt he gets anything close to the crap deal the Saints gave Carr.

I don’t see how anyone can argue w this….both suck equally. One is MUCH cheaper.

We’d be in the same boat we’re currently in.
Still 6-7, still needing to draft a QB, and still stuck with Dennis Allen. Baker doesn’t change any of those things. Goff was not an option.

The only difference is baker would save us some money but carr’s contract will be able to be offloaded after next year I believe.

Why are these the only options?

If Carr ultimately leads to us drafting a real QB it may have been worth it in the long run.

Overlooking Jarvis was a the Saints back when Mayfield was a possibility. Mayfield was a major reason Landry wanted out of Clev, may have been a major reason saints never gave him a look

Loomis is gonna Loomis and do some wild restructure this offseason that makes it impossible to get rid of him after next year. I feel it in my bones

His record against the Saints this season is 1-0. So I'd say yea.

No, but I would MUCH rather have him on a 1 year $8 milion dollar contract than diva Carr at 4 years $150 million with a no trade clause and $100 million guaranteed.

It was two trades combined into one.

They actually got a first to take on Goff.
Any team could have got Goff free for free or a draft pick to take him.

I was ok with strict with Dalton, I honestly don’t think we’d be any worse off record wise

I guess the moral of the story is, "Don't overpay or mediocrity".
