They’re thinking this is going to take a few years.

If we signing mid guys like Cooks, on a rebuilding team, I dint think they care about comp picks

How long did they sign cooks for? Hes not a long term guy but they at least need some professional players to bridge the gap during this rebuild. I don’t think anyone is expecting him to turn back the clock.

What are the saints thinking?

That Shough will be the QB of the future. Either he plays great and we have a locked in starter for the next 10 years, 4 of those on a rookie deal; or we just signed our backup and will be in prime position for a better option next year.

This team is not a QB away from winning much; maybe the South if TB & Atl didn’t take major steps forward. So it’s better to start purging old contracts at a pace that doesn’t completely kill the cap

Dude we are not a QB away from the playoffs. They tried with Carr and finally decided to rip the band aid off.

This season is about striking gold with a rookie QB or trying again next year.

It looks like the OP is too stupid to see that

The Broncos and the Commanders rolled with a rookie quarterback last year. It seemed to do them well.

Not saying that's what is going to happen to us, but other teams have rolled with experienced quarterbacks and have not done well.
Case in point , the Saints with Derek Carr.

Who knows with this new coaching staff?

Point of this , we don't know what's going to happen. I'm not going to put much emphasis on sports pundits opinions.

Let's see what happens with the season.
Could be a good surprise.

This should undoubtedly be a tank for number one season for so many reasons. If the qb gets a few wins and shows flashes of true starter then great. If not, top pick here we go.

Wise choice is to trade a 2nd Round pick for Kirk Cousins and pay his Falcons contract too?

I like the optimism... Shough will be 11-0 when he gets injured and we'll need a veteran to go 3-2 over a 5 game stretch while Shough gets healthy for a superbowl run.

Both of those teams had Qbs on the roster behind those rookies that had produced and won games in the league before lol

The Rookie may work out but we've seen how bad Haener and Rattler are.
It's gon take a minute for Shough to get it, but Rattler is not a bad QB. The kid has an NFL arm that makes all the throws, he just needs experience. I read where one of the news teams down there was saying how sharp Rattler looked with his throws, that the ball was out of his hand fast and hitting the receivers on time. They said he looked the best out of all of the QBs so far, and that Shough will need time to adjust because his throws were late a lot. So, we'll see, but I expect them to bring in a veteran arm down the road.

There is more on the line than W's and L's for many players who need to play well to get paid. Tanking is bullshite. Ask the players about Tanking?

Name one QB in the entire NFL that makes the Saints a playoff contender.....................................

To that point, who TF cares who the QB is?
