It's not an excuse, but when the pre-game show was listing all the players out with injury, I knew they would not beat KC. The Saints look like a MASH unit.

At some point though, it can't continue to be an excuse. The Saints are decimated by injuries every season. If the current players can't stay healthy, it's time to find some that can.

This is because of cap hell. The saints have to fill in scraps behind the starters because they cannot pay for better backups. When a starter goes down it becomes a big drop off.

Poor drafting the last few years and horrible csp management along with a bad head coach are the main reasons.

Missing on Fosky and Miller along with Saldiveri hurt when injuries pile up. We could have some difference makers at those spots that were available.

Every year since Brees retired. I'm starting to think that the offensive scheme that was tailored to him limitex a lot of potential injuries. Brees had a quick release and processed unusually fast limiting the potential for injuries. Carr takes way too much time to read defenses.

Get to 3-3 and just get healthy during bye week.

This is the bed they made, they need to lay in it. No excuses

They chose to retain Allen and sign Carr
They chose to neglect positions of need
They chose to leave little cap space to retain key players and build depth
They drafted poorly which led to no depth

This is why you can’t keep losing your younger vets and filling them in with guys on the backside of their careers. This is why those middle round picks that we toss away like candy to move up actually matter.

The salary cap actually fricking matters and just because you can get under it by manipulation doesn’t mean you have a healthy/deep roster.

Going into year, I thought 3-3 would be an acceptable start. Obviously the first 2 wins set expectations soaring, but injuries have ravaged the team. When healthy, the Saints looked pretty good. But losing 2 OL starters and OL backups have severely limited what we can do on offense. Losing Hill hurts too. No team in NFL could lose that much and not be adversely affected.

To the other point, bad cap management has hurt, but bad drafting has probably hurt more. You can get away with cap mistakes if you have cheap talent that can fill in. The Saints don’t.

I'm not sure the players want to play for this staff. So if they get hurt, the stay out longer than necessary.

Purely conjecture.

I'm not sure that really plays as great a factor on the pro level. Money and GMs play a greater role than staff on the pro level. GMs are hemmed in by salary cap considerations and roster space. It happens, the end of the Ditka experiment is indicative in 1999. Towards the end of the season, you had guys skipping practices who were not hurt

IMO, the injury problem has 3 layers. The scouting department takes too many chances on players with questionable injury history in the draft, the team's medical staff has also been a major question mark, and the cap situation is too bad to start moving on from players that continue with these injury issues until their contracts run the course.

The Saints need a continued influx of cheaper younger players without a history of injuries.

Falls to the strength and medical staffs. This happens every year. Time to get new staffs.

The strength and conditioning and medical has been PITIFUL for years.
The injuries on this team for the most part, hamstrings, muscle pulls,Calfs,
groin pulls etc. this team has are directly related to lack of preemptive
stetching b4 and after practice and games. This staff is incompetent and
it gets exposed every week.THIS IS TOTALY UNEXCEPTABLE.Stevie
Wonder can see theres a problem.
