nice story for Shreveport fans on the trophy tour...

More than 500 people, most dressed in black and gold and armed with cameras, swept in the Convention Center in the first 45 minutes the doors were open.

Brees Line in NJ

Looking for a Indiana pic...
Hundreds of people dressed in the gold and black of Purdue and the New Orleans Saints lined up today to check out Super Bowl champion quarterback Drew Brees as he brought his book tour to Greater Lafayette.
Hundreds of people waited this morning in a line that zig-zagged throughout Meijer to see Brees and get a signed copy of his book.

"My sister and I have been here since 4 a.m.," said Elizabeth Rozhon, 20. "We wanted to make sure we got to see him. I've already read eight chapters of the book while we've been waiting."

yep, I'd estimate about 100 people in line at that time. I heard someone walk into the store asking about wristbands too, but I didn't get the details. I'd assume that means they'll be giving out wristbands so people don't have to wait overnight.

If he did 2 per minute nonstop, he'd get 240; and that seems like a lot to me. I've never seen a book signing though. Maybe he'll have stickers or something that he pre-signed to make things go faster.

I have two questions for those who have been to one of the signings. Can you get two books signed if only one person is there? Can you get a few words written in the book to the person it's for?

Houma's Books-A-Million store will begin issuing free tickets at noon July 25 for New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees' book signing on July 26.

The store, located at 1539 Martin Luther King Blvd., will host the signing from 9-11 a.m. on July 26. Brees will be on hand to sign his book "Coming Back Stronger," which details his comeback from a potentially career ending shoulder injury in 2005 to leading the Saints to a Super Bowl title earlier this year.

With a large crowd expected to attend, Books-A-Million will start handing out tickets on July 25 so fans can reserve a spot in the waiting line. The store will continue to hand out tickets until they run out.

In order to receive a ticket, those who purchased a book from the store must bring their receipt as proof they purchased the book from the store. Fans without tickets will have to wait in line on a first-come, first-serve basis.

A Books-A-Million manager, who declined to be identified, said the store expects over 1,000 fans to attend the book signing.

The manager said Brees will only sign copies of his book and no other merchandise. Brees will not pose for photographs, and due to time constraints, he will not be able to personalize books.

There will be a limit of three signed copies for each person at the event.

For information, contact Books-A-Million at 985-868-4007.

NFL Super Bowl champion and Jackson, Tennessee native Jabari Greer will host a track meet in RUN Jackson, the city’s biggest track meet for adults and youth, including special needs children. The meet is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Liberty Technology Magnet High School, 3470 Ridgecrest Road Ext. in Jackson.

sounds kinda fun...

Admission costs $10, and children ages 5 and younger will be admitted free. Each ticket will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win two tickets to the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans 2010 pre-season game. Greer will also run against the qualifiers of the 100-yard dash and the 4 X 100-meter relay (must be in the top 5 to qualify), and special fees apply for these two events.
