Listening to the Underhill pod this morning. Nick says they are still not close on numbers and he thinks it’s very unlikely an in season deal is struck.

Looks like he’ll test free agency.

It’s a tough contract to figure out because he’s mainly a specialist and he is frequently injured.

Hopefully he is healthy this year, because he can definitely be a game changer for us.

Sounds like he wants full time WR money, which I understand from his perspective. He was really good at WR last year.

But what is that value? Certainly not WR1 money, probably not WR2 money. WR3 money sounds like the sweet spot but he still hasn’t been a full time WR and he more than likely won’t get that opportunity this season either with the guys we got in front of him.

I wonder if CSP’s departure is impacting this. CSP loved his speed and value to the offense. The front office may view him differently.

Hope we can keep him. He was a bright spot on offense last year. Hopefully the upgrade at QB will be able to take advantage of his talent.

needs to show he's a starting wr. he had all the opportunity in the world to do that last year.

Yeah, with many more options at WR this year, he is really betting on himself. He may want to take a good contract now instead of trying to hit a homerun. If he gets injured or has little offensive activity, the value will come down.

Elite return guys never stay with the same team long. You can get a guy that does most of what Deonte does for 1/4 the price of what he will be asking for.

If they pay him more than 4M a year, it's a mistake.

And how do you justify any of that when he will be behind MT, Landry, Olave, possibly Calloway, AK, possibly Trautman in the pecking order. He’ll get his plays and targets, but I just don’t see him having the volume in the 2nd half of this season like he did last year

He’s a game changer but the return game is being phased out more and more. Mostly just a deep threat with limitations on route running and height. Hope they don’t overpay

Are you suggesting that a healthy Winston will not be better than Taysom, Simien, & Book?

I don't think so. This is just what the saints as a team value him at.

He is making 4 mil a yr on the tender, which is a nuce deal, but is probably looking for around 7.

I'm not going to overpay for him but harty is definitely special.

You aren't just replacing him with an udfa wr.
