Saints had more than a 2:1 pass to run ratio in favor of the pass. Despite having the lead or being within 1 score the entire game.

Saints ran the ball just 6 times in the 2nd half
1 of them being that dumb end around to Ginn
1 was when it was 2nd and 1 last drive of the game
1 was the QB sneak on 4th and half a yard

So just 4 legitimate runs.
Only 2 runs in the 3rd quarter, one being the end around.

This guy just doesn't get it. Saints have the lead nearly the entire half, the defense is clearly gassed, and yet he doesn't run the ball at all. Payton's play calls in the 2nd half are starting to become a reoccurring problem.

Probably had something to do with missing our second RB and Ingram being banged up...but what do I know?

Ingram got banged up on the last drive. He had 3 carries in the 2nd half, Payton sucked last night

Ingram was banged up going in the game, Kamara went down and it just limited the RB

Disagree with the injury excuse. You absolutely had to run the ball there at the end to burn clock. Even if we scored, you're leaving over 1:20 on the clock for them. Hand the ball off to Line. Hand it off to Edmunds. Anyone.

Forcing the ball into Hill of all people into pretty much triple coverage made no sense there at all.

Ingram wasn't 100% before the game started. Kamara goes down. We have no quality 3rd RB. I understand the debate that we should have run more, but with the way the injuries were going, I see the reservation from Payton to not get Ingram injured.

That's what I think this team is missing. In 2009, we had Pierre, Bush and Bell running.

Would be nice to have a Hightower type guy instead of Edmunds. Edmunds isn't a good 3 RB

I dont see how you can argue against this.
This Rush Offense is what lost us the game.
Saints have Edmunds, as well.
He performed accordingly during preseason.

This is what lost us this game.
Basic Situational Football.
No Ball Control
No Time Possession.

Straight 3 AND OUTS.

This is why I think peyton is always subjected to being out coached.

Many upvotes!
His play calling has been awful and it’s obvious for anyone to see.

Wasn't Ingram questionable when the game started? If so you've got one RB out and another who could have been benched and no one would have been surprised. The final throw notwithstanding, what other choice did CSP have but a pass heavy game plan?

All dis shite!!! I couldn't be more disappointed in CSP this morning. With all the things going against this team last night he did not do the best he could to help his players succeed. To me he's as much to blame as the refs.

Half our running game was in the locker room. Need to conserve what we have. And until the interception, we were doing okay.

We got screwed on defense by 9 first downs awarded by the referees. Wouldn’t let the defense get off the field.

For those claiming injury issues, it was the same problem with both the Rams and Redskins game. They were close enough in the game to continue running, yet Sean Payton went completely pass happy. 3rd Quarter against the Rams, and the 3rd Quarter against the Falcons Payton completely lost his mind.

I'll give you this though. Through all of this somehow the Saints are able to stay in the game, which is a sign of a good team.

Completely agree - when I saw Payton come out throwing every down, i said to myself - this won't end well - Brees is gonna throw a pick or fumble or something.

Unfortunately I was right.

I think it was John Madden that once said , "Three things can happen when you throw the ball. Two of them are bad".
