100% Lock to make the 53. I took it as just that. Armstead might be practice squad for a year Tez must show he can hadle the run very very well to be a 3-4 OLB. Galette is the best rusher we have at OLB so that's why I had him staying.

I 100% think neither is cut.

Was trying to go with the whole under no scenario are they cut. Practice squad being something else. Hartly gets a cold leg in camp and pre season and he will be cut.

He will never clear. Like I said Saturday, the most likely scenario is that they IR him at the final cut with a phantom "minor" injury.

I like the idea of if Armstead doesn't start move him to the practice squad, but it isn't that simple. They have a few teams out there desparate for LTs and someone would sign him to their 53 if we cut him.

I could see a situation where if he isn't going to start he gets an "injury" at the end of preseason and goes on IR. Not likely either imo, but more plausible than trying to sneak him on that practice squad.

I don't see any of the rookies beating out Wilson and you need at least 3 OLBs to keep them fresh. I think Galette and Butler start while Wilson will be the rush specialist.

And my concern with Galette and Wilson at OLB isn't the run at all. I think now that they aren't DEs getting pushed around by big tackles right off the line, they have a chance to create space and make plays against the run.

My concern with them is in pass coverage. You don't rush both OLBs every down. I think Butler will be the one primarily responsible for coverage, but they'll have to do it some(just like Harper; not often but he'll have to do it sometimes).

And like I said, I can see why people would say Hartley isn't a lock. I disagree but I know there is trust issues with a lot of fans.

Edit:
Damn, in my long drawn out post I got ninja'd twice.

Well they have to sign a viable replacement before he becomes anything but a lock....

Yeah the title does say as of today, and at the moment he's our only K that I know of.

I still think he's a lock regardless.

Harper is a lock. He is 100% guaranteed (contract wise), theyd be a fool to release him.

Disagree. The team needs to worry about next year as well...not just this year. The team may prefer to absorb the cap hit this year (given that there isn't much of an opportunity in FA now) as compared to next year (with Graham's contract needing to be redone.)

I don't think they will release Harper, but you could make a pretty good case for doing it for salary cap reasons...as long as you think a year ahead.

I would say everyone you listed plus:
Rufus Johnson
Luke McCown
Reddick
Chase Thomas
Chamberlain
Harper
Tiller

I'm not sure you know what a Lock is.

It doesn't matter if we do it this year or next. You can carry cap over so if we absorb it this year that is less to carry over.

Either way, we'll have the same amount of cap no matter when you cut him, so why not keep him another year unless you need the little amount of space he saves this year.

He has 1 year left on his deal, and its fully guaranteed. You'd be a fool to release him for cap reasons.

Kenyon Coleman at DE is probably a lock, at least for this year.

Harper has 2 years left ('13 and '14), no? And, '14 is not guaranteed.

A previous poster is suggesting that we can cut him next year but realize the cap hit in '13. If that's the case, then I would agree it would make no sense to cut him.

Youre correct, i misread something earlier. I looked at it again. This year is fully guarenteed, so the cap hit is taken. We have nothing to lose and plenty to gain (assuming he plays well). If we dont like his play, we nix him before a roster bonus is due for next season and its a clean break for us.
