frick off. Smith was killed by the culture of violence that continues to perpetuate in that community. I'm sure this dude would've followed all gun laws like an upstanding citizen.

I mean, not a bad part of town. One of the most well known Saints players in the last 20 years got shot sitting in his front seat. There's no one to blame here than the thug that pulled the trigger

This is so awful. New Orleans hasn't progressed at all in my lifetime. I love the city but these thugs make me more and more bitter with each headline.

Mourning the loss of a great friend and teammate, Will Smith. Such a senseless tragedy. Please pray for Racquel and their children.

quote:

Bengals veteran left tackle Andrew Whitworth joins a mourning NFL community: "Hearing of Will Smith's murder this morning is absolutely devastating. He was a good man and a former team captain. The NFL was lucky to have him and I always enjoyed playing against him. This is yet another example of the senseless violence we are experiencing daily as a country. My family and I are praying his wife recovers fully from her injuries, and will continue to keep his children, family members and former teammates in our prayers".

Lesson one: If you rear end someone and they have a few choice words for you. Do NOT shoot them.

This is honestly a great post.

We need to teach people how to deal with their emotions, instead of lashing out.
We need to instill some empathy in people for one another.
Conflict resolution, too.
These are important skills that might prevent violence at the moment things get tense.

Are they really though? Why are they wasting time and energy on such petty bs when they could be trying to find solutions to real problems.

Of course it won't be easy and take many many years that is why no one wants to seriously try and work on it, it's much easier to appease the uneducated voters with feel good measures than it is to maybe hurt a few feelings to make real progress

The people blaming this murder on Landrieu and statues on page one are accusing somebody blaming it on lack of gun regulation on page 9 of "making it political."

That's rich.

You feel so strongly about changing New Orleans? Then get out of Jefferson and St. Tammany, get back in the city, and vote in the next mayoral election.

So true. You can blame all the objects used for the killing of others, but at the end of the day the problems lie within the heads of the deranged who do the killings. What you said hits the root of the problem hard. Maybe even hard enough to bring down all of the high crime/murder rates that our inner cities in Louisiana deal with. The only question will be if these types of programs/classes will actually be installed anytime soon.

I love New Orleans, my grand parents have lived down there for nearly 20 years now since moving from North La., so I'm always down there a few times a year. I brag to people about how laid back and easy going the city is. People say negative things about the city and I take up for it as if I was born and raised there. I just don't think I can do it anymore. This is beyond sad and depressing and shite needs to change. It's fricking embarrassing on a national level to have a guy that fights to make NOLA better along with many other things, get gunned down over something so petty and ridiculous. I'm done.

RIP, Will
