apparently Jackson could have just pissed on the podium and not said a word and you'd think "at least it was gold" !!

in a perfect world, he would have said a lot more.

but he came up poor, obviously not highly educated, and all he knew was football.

I doubt he has sat around and studied previous speeches on what he should say or how he should go about his speech. He wasn't comfortable being up there, obviously. No, its not going to rank among the top speeches ever or even today, but that is who he is. I seriously wasn't expecting much more.

this pretty much sums up my emotions on it

he was there to represent the saints as much as himself .. and he represted neither .. without Sam Mills and Vaughn Johnson in the middle and Pat Swilling getting double teamed on the other side, he doesn't get in the hall .. fricking work them into your speech .. that's common sense ..

I would probably get really angry over this...

Rickey was great, but if it was not for Sam Mills, Vaughn Johnson, and Pat Swilling we would not even be having this discussion. At the least he should have mentioned the Dome Patrol.

In the long run does it really matter? If anything, other people can learn from him as to what not to do, but it was one of the worst speeches I ever saw.

You have it completely backwards. Without Jackson playing opposite of him, Swilling went from being an NFL player of the year to one of the most overpaid players in the league in about two years.

Rickey Jackson made Pat Swilling a wealthy man

Tell you what, go play your arse off in the NFL for the Saints, get up to the podium, and go do it yourself if you've got such a problem with it.

You apparently have never seen Rickey Jackson speak before.

thought his speech was very good. That's who Rickey is so why change anything. He said on WWL during the week that he wouldn't go up there with a written speech and that he would speak from his heart and he did. He was never one for words. He would let his play do the talking.
agreed

exactly the opposite. If you had ever seen Rickey speak, you wouldn't have expected otherwise. I don't know really what you expected. You sound, obviously, like a rantard.
