Can you imagine having Richard Sherman & Malcolm X Jenkins on the same team? It will be a virtue signaling competition of epic proportions. We really don't have time for this nor need distractions like that this year. Let's play football.

He is worth bringing on at this point if he will take a cheap 1 year deal. Need to bring another vet in to compete while Adebo develops. I’m not crazy about his fit with the saints but has history with our new cb coach and there is not many options left

It's either Sherman or Dre Kirkpatrick. Not sure what the deal with Kirkpatrick is, but he's visited both the Pats & Saints...leaving both of them without a contract.

Only 2 options left, & I'd gladly take either of them.

Not sure if the Saints don’t pull an “out of left field” deal and try and trade for Stephon Gilmore.

What the frick do you know about playing football?

What we need is backfield help, and he can provide that.

OK well maybe they should bring in a white CB instead.

Whole defense would have to adjust to his presence

My concern with Sherman is he’s 33 and hurt for most of last year. He also sucked when he did play last year

What about Nelson. He excels in man coverage.

Sherman hasn't been as bad as Jenkins in this department. He's said some divisive shite but he's also spoken against the violence/anti-police actions of BLM. On the other hand, Jenkins is a cry-baby racist and it sucks he's still on the team.

This was a interview Sherman did from 2016 so he might have changed his tune but these are some pretty reasonable takes:

quote:

His stance on “all lives matter”: “Any time you see people who are saying, ‘Black Lives Matter,’ and then saying it’s time to kill police, then it is difficult to stand behind that logic. They are generalizing police just like they are asking police not to generalize us. It is very hypocritical. So, in that respect, I find it difficult to fully support that movement.”

Should the NFL be more active on social issues: “I don’t think they will because it doesn’t affect their bottom line … But as players, we are really close to it. A majority African-American league, with a lot of guys coming from impoverished environments, would really feel compelled to speak up.”

Crime in the black community: “I think we target the inner city and the black community and a lot of the places that have high gang violence and beg for them to stop the senseless violence within our own community. Because once we stop that, once we unite as a people, once we come together and stop looking at each other as enemies, then we can move forward in a very powerful way.”

On institutional racism: “I’d say, to some degree, that’s true. There is low funding for education and very few jobs to go around. But there are also people who work hard to take care of their families. … I think there is also a mentality that we want to blame someone else for black fathers not being there for all these people having all these kids and nobody raising them. We want to say that’s systematic, but when do we stop saying it’s systematic and move forward and make a difference?”

You not going to hand him a spot but if he willing to take a cheap contract then there is nothing wrong with bringing him in and letting him compete

I think they will end up making a trade for a #2 corner. Maybe try to find someone that you can trade a 2nd or 3rd round pick for. I’m not sold on either Sherman or Kirkpatrick.

Allen has been trying to force this team into a zone defense the past few years. It’s the primary reason the D would start off slow. With the addition of Richard to coach the secondary, and Sherman to ply and help in the field; Allen may finally get what he wants from them.

Lattimore is not very good in zone.
