it really is a tough decision, i probably can't fault payton either way he handles it, but i have a feeling the starters will definitely play next week, at least for a little while

glad you arent a coach

Payton said he is going to play it like a must win. He didn't say anything about the Vikings if they lose/win or whatever, he said he is going to play it like a must win. I don't say play ALL OUT and go crazy on them. I just say you play it, you get the win, you get some movement going, and you go into the playoffs ready. Nothing too rough that can get people injured often. We'll just have to see what Payton says later this week, I mean... it's still Monday.

The problem is this isnt some easy win. We are going up against a hot team on the road. And i dont think we win this game not giving it our all. SO just sit everyone. Playing another shitty game wont help us.

Can we just get Drew and the team to play the Panthers in online Madden instead?

Hell yes rest them, they need it , its the 16 th week. I think taking a week off wont make them rusty. Having everyone 100% means more. You know that if they go all out next week , certainly they will have some dinged up, or worse, its NOT worth it .

coming out and having a strong showing for about half could help us though.

mentally this team needs that, especially on offense. thats how we are going to win big games.

he can still coach it like a must win just not with the starters in.

he's already been cleared to play.

Payton was asked on sirius about resting Greer vs. getting him some playing time before the playoffs since he's been out so long. He said Greer would definately go vs. Carolina.

so, how do you play a must-win without playing all-out? people get fired for that shite.

at this point i'd rather play the starters to get that consistency back and rest the defensive starters.

LE, they rested 2 weeks in 2006 and it didnt really affect us against the eagles in the playoffs. I dont expect Payton to change his thinking since it didnt hurt us before.

Most players will sit. Greer will get work because he needs it. And guys like Bushrod should get work against Peppers. But the banged up players and certain players like Will Smith, Ellis wont play much if any. And Brees will take one snap and you will see Brunell

If we play the backups and lose to the Panthers, that means when we play our playoff game we wouldnt have won in over a month. I agree it leaves a bad taste in the players mouth.

But i dont think Payton is goin to do anything different from what we did in 06 in a similiar situation.

Nah, im talking about week 17 and a bye. 2 weeks off before the playoff game. The meadowland game was Bush's only 100 yard game.

And a lot of took a few snaps and that was it. Jaime martin played the whole game. I cant remember if Brees took one snap or played one series but that was it.

Play the starters a quarter. If they look good, take them out. If they look like shite, play them until they put a few decent drivers together.

Alternate Bushrod and Streif all game to help make the decision on what to do in the playoffs at LT. One bad game against Ware is one thing, but Bushrod didn't do that well in the TB game either.

They played 1 series and scored a td. Then Payton took em out and let them get the standing ovation
