I can’t wait to bump this thread when we hire him and go 4-13.

So you’ll be actively rooting against the Saints? Got it.

Then Bieniemy should be the LAST guy you’d want taking over your NFL team. His track record as a college coach isn’t good, and his time as an OC under Reid is a big question mark. He needs to be uncuffed from Andy’s ankle and actually run an offense so we can see more of his personality. Same with Leftwich. At least with Allen we know what we’d be getting.

I would rather make Allen the HC and keep Pete as the OC.

Would be the beginning of the end of the franchise being in New Orleans

This is such a dumb overreaction. This franchise sucked for 40 fricking years straight and stayed in NOLA, come on dude

Our owner has a succession plan to literally force the next owner contractually to keep the team here

None of these offensive guys who get jobs are “uncuffed from their head coach’s ankle”

Zac Taylor, Mike McDaniel, Kevin O’Connell, Doug Peterson, Matt Nagy. All got hired after working for an offensive genius who called the plays. Learning from the best has pros and cons- you get incredible football knowledge but have less play calling experience. Just how it works.

I think it was Jason Whitlock who said this week that "Eric Bienemy doesn't interview well."

Anybody know anything about that? I know that Bienemy has been passed over quite a bit but that was the first time I'd heard anyone say that about him

There are rumblings that teams are scared of his legal history. Don’t know how true that is though

So we should hire an unknown and lose Allen?

At least spending that much time with him must mean we’re really testing his offensive aptitude without Reid.

I had never heard that before so I did a little digging. Took about 15 seconds to find this. Ho Li Fuk. The Saints should stay away from this guy.

Lost in all of his success with the Kansas City Chiefs is that Eric Bieniemy generated quite a rap sheet for bad decisions.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Colorado police arrested Bieniemy and teammate Kanvavis McGhee following a February 1998 bar fight. Bieniemy was charged with disorderly conduct and fighting in public, but he pleaded no contest. He and McGhee each received deferred sentences and performed court-mandated community service.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Bienemy pleaded no contest after allegedly shoving a firefighter on July 4, 1990. Colorado suspended Bieniemy for one game in the upcoming season.

Colorado police once again arrested Bieniemy, then in the NFL, in September 1993. The Orlando Sentinel reported that Bieniemy allegedly grabbed a female parking attendant by the neck and threatened her.

The University of Colorado Boulder banned Bieniemy from its campus for one year as a result.

“She stated that the male who grabbed her said something about ‘a bunch of Black males all at once being her worst nightmare,” the attendant told police, according to the arrest report.

According to the Daily Bruin, Colorado police arrested Bieniemy on a DUI charge in April 2001, three months after he joined the football staff as a running backs coach. He previously had his driver’s license suspended after numerous violations.

Bieniemy was also linked to allegations that Colorado’s football program “used alcohol and sex to lure recruits.” ESPN reported in 2004 that the university discovered there was evidence of drugs and alcohol being used to “entice recruits,” but no university officials were guilty of misconduct.

Bieniemy left Colorado after the 2002 season to take the same position at UCLA.

Go listen to the NFL Mic’d Up AFC Championship Game. Should tell everyone all they need to know about Eric Bieniemy when the game is on the line.

Hard Pass.

It would be so like this franchise to have spent the last decade getting fricked by Roger over and over again to fall on the racial grenade for the good of the league and make a token hire to take the heat off of him. This isn’t a successful college coach or a coordinator that’s shown it’s his coaching lifting up one side of the ball. He leaves KC, and between The Walrus and their skill players, they wouldn’t miss a beat if he moved on. And it’s not like the play calling was stellar in the second half of their Bengals game, they froze up about like SP and Brees always seemed to do in the playoffs.

Hard pass.

This is the correct answer.
You are already elite on one side of the ball. You have to do everything you can to keep that continuity when making such a drastic change after 15 years.
Also, with having either Winston or another unknown at QB, an elite RB and defense is a qb's best friend.
