And Allen was hired with the quickness by Ben Johnson because he's a good DC. Whatever happened with the Chargers as HC, Staley was a highly respected DC before that.

Staley and DA really aren’t comparable at all.

DA has many skins on the wall as a DC. Staley not so much.

I don't think I would love a Staley hire.

Mike Silver is far left filth who was one of the driving forces behind pillgate, bountygate, and concussiongate

You cant use his head coaching tenure to decide if he is a good DC or not, or at least i wouldnt do that

I argued this with him and others in the last thread about him. They think it counts b/c he called the defensive plays for the chargers. They apparently have no idea how much other duties the head coach has to worry about. Waste of time arguing with ignorant posters.

This should be embarrassing to black people that the NFL is having to force organizations to interview at least one of them whether they are deserving or not.

Then we have almost nothing to judge him by.

He has been a DC for one year and did well, but also had peak Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey, along with a loaded roster on that side.

He did more than just call plays. He ran the whole D. Their D was not good, especially for their talent level.

Just look at the difference from 2023 to 2024 with a new DC/scheme.

How is it that, while everyone else is rolling back DEI BS, the NFL is doubling down?!

You’re insane if you think everyone is rolling back DEI. Trump mandated the federal government do it. He can’t enforce private companies or publicly traded companies to do as much, and many will not. The NFL certainly will continue doing what they’ve been doing for years. It’s a league largely dominated by black men.

Staley was a college a QB, kinda odd how he ended up on the other side of the ball. I’m indifferent to him but I think he was definitely overwhelmed as a HC. He was fast tracked to an HC with a pretty bare NFL resume

He spent a year or 2 with Fangio when that was the hot new D and he got that 1 magical year in LA with a loaded roster. Best defensive player on earth and the best secondary player.

I do agree he was fast tracked way too soon, but I don't think he has spent enough time under good defensive minds to understand the total viewpoint and thinks he's smarter than he is due to being given that label, so he won't humble himself to learning. That was a major issue with the Chargers. They clearly had issues that normies could see and he refused to acknowledge it. I don't know if a year in SF under a D that regressed is going to teach him much.

I'd feel a lot better about him if he worked under Fangio again, or a guy like Saleh...or one of the McDonald tree bros. SF was a mess this year.
