I guess you have to try and keep him on another 1 to maybe 2 year deal because there is not really any legit guys coming out this year.

Rattler sucks arse and the NC QB has not lived up to any pre-season hype.

Guess its Jameis and Taysom for at least the 2022 season as well.

ETA: Or is anyone sold on Jameis as the long term solution and offering him the regular going freight in years and money that other starting QBs make?

Interesting QB situations around league:
Jimmy Garoppolo
Deshaun Watson
Aaron Rodgers
Russell Wilson
Derek Carr

Ive been a huge Jameis advocate but im not sure i like the neutered version. Yeah, you get less mistakes but you also cut down on some really good stuff as well.

I want to see what getting Thomas back does to help the situation. But if Payton wont let him do shite it wont matter.

If things go south and things get rocky in Seattle again im throwing the ammo at getting Russ Wilson.

Wouldn’t mind Derek Carr. I mean Russ and ARod for sure but no way we can pay them right?

If we're talking strictly draft then Desmond Ridder might be a guy Payton could work with

Wrong. Watson or Wilson could get it done. Probably doesn't matter much who the QB is with the garbage WR line up we trot out.

JW has to be fully broken of his bad habits and learn to trust SP and the system. If he can work through that, he'll be great. It's up to him

it aint' like carr isn't going to want to get paid.

He's coming up on last year of deal; 19 mill no dead monies left. He probably will be looking for extension. Raiders can trade him with no cap hit and 19 mill savings. Not sure what Raiders long term wishes are with Carr now.

When he’s allowed to throw he’s been quite good. I still think he’d be REALLY good with two even serviceable WRs and callaway as the 3.

Welcome to becoming a new fan of the Saints, let me introduce you to the GM

All kidding aside, a lot depends on how it's structured and where the new cap goes next year. Based on early numbers (ratings, fans in stands..) it appears the cap could get back to pre-COVID levels which has them $48M over and no QB. They will still; need to figure out what to do with Armstead (even though he will count $13M against the cap) & Marcus Williams. Plus, they only have 36 players under contract for 2022.

So, it will be another year of creativity from Loomis and a quiet FA. Good news is they have some room in 2023 and moving forward. But at some point (maybe over a few years) they will have to take some hits and make some tough decisions.

Have to wait and see what happens with a healthy offense and Mike Thomas back. If Sean is sticking with this offense I say we just start Trevor Siemien and save money

Yeah I don't think so. I think Russell Wilson will do just fine and he is younger.

of that list the only one that makes sense and we might be able to get is carr, the rest will be looking for highest paid ever contracts with their new teams and we cant go there. with carr i can see him being ok with a league starting top 10 tier QB average type contract

Gonna take more than 4 games for most people to answer that IMO.
