So if you were able to nab a qb in the offseason or in the draft, who would you pick?

Hypothetical I know, but honestly who would give us the best chance to compete for not only our division, but the SB?

So far from what I'm hearing it's Lamar (probably will get tagged), Carr (unsure if trade or release), Brady, Rodgers, Jimmy, Tannehill. Or would you rather young blood from the draft?

Except I would prob reverse the order. I get the injury and age with hooker but I really like the way the guy throws it to all parts of the field. If he’s there in the second I think you really have to pull the trigger.

Why would the Saints go after another failed QB. Better off starting from scratch I'm almost against the aging SB winning 1 yr rental Qbs.

Seeing what he's done at Seattle this season, I wouldn't mind Geno Smith. He'll come cheaper than the others, it'll fit our tight budget. Unfortunately, I think he's staying put in Seattle.

Can we afford either one of them under the cap?

Realistically

1. Carr
2. Jimmy G
3. Stroud (trade SP to Carolina)
4. Other
5. Brady (don’t think Brady is interested w/o SP)
99. Dalton

I’m on the Will Levis train. If we could somehow take picks from an SP trade and get him I’d be thrilled. I’ve become a believer in traits, smarts, and moxie more than college production. Look at Josh Allen and Pat Mahomes in college. Put Will Levis on Alabama or Ohio State Last year, he’d be the no-brainer number one pick.

Stroud and Young will be major busts. My god I hope they don’t draft either one of them

I don’t really wanna go for this in 2023. I’m not calling for tanking (NFL teams don’t tank seasons) but I think the smart way to go forward with the team is to minimize unhealthy cap being pushed into the future, and stockpile draft picks/young cheap players.

I’m fine if they want to throw darts at QBs in this draft. I’m fine if they throw two. I don’t care how early or late. It’s a numbers game, anyway. Get several and see what happens.

Best case scenario? We either bomb the season and get a high pick OR we nail a mid round QB pick somehow.

What I DONT want to do, is spend mid-high range dollars (plus potentially draft capital if we have to trade) on a FA QB who isn’t going to elevate the entire roster to playoffs+. We simply aren’t going to find that. Lamar isn’t gonna hit the open market. Carr is good but not elevate good. No one else will do that. They’re all just a waste of cap space for us right now.

So, draft some guys. Draft Hendon Hooker. or Max Duggan. Or Spencer Rattler. Hell, draft them all. Throw darts at rookies til we find the guy. Just DONT throw away more cap future space for a middling free agent.

Carr is #1 and probably by a mile compared to what's available. The one time he was in a competent system, he nearly won an MVP (and only lost it due to a broken leg).

Jimmy G is a distant #2.

Dalton and drafting Hooker is #3.

Give me a guy through the draft that isn't a geriatric (Hooker, Bennett). Carr is bothered too easily. You rattle him and he's done. Hard pass.

This team isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Get a guy in the 2nd and see if he has the tools so you can grow with him and build around him.

Do not give up anything for Stroud. Take what you can get or roll with Dalton. Clean house the following year

Other than some total fluke quarterback emerging from the middle of nowhere, he's the only guy that, if available in the 2nd, has a shot at being a long term starter.

Need another year to tank, and then pillage on the 24’ draft.

The QB class will be much better.

This organization needs to start taking shots on finding that franchise QB via the draft.

I like Carr if Payton was still here. Think he fits his offense perfectly, but now I don’t know. I’d rather stay away from Hooker all together unless it’s the 4th round or later.

We’ve seen the best of what Dalton is. I’d rather just sign Bridgewater and Baker for cheap and let them battle it out. Then draft our guy in next years draft.
