I still feel like they made that eagles pick with the first knowing they'll recoup in a Payton deal. I dont think there is any way we can move him without at least 1 first.
Nobody is getting him without at least a first. Look at what teams threw at DeShaun Watson and at what risk. Payton is considered a franchise coach because he was able to consistently find a way to win. The vast majority fall short. If Loomis and company don't flinch we should get top dollar for him by the end of or right after the end of this season.

7-9 floor with a HOF QB.
But in all seriousness, yes, he could immediately turn the Chargers into a contender. The Broncos possibly as well.

I think this is a problem if it's an AFC team and Sean calls the Saints to ask a favor for his new team to not be buried by trading away high drafting picks.

The whole NFL world will be watching. This is business. The last thing they will do is give his new owners a pass or they would be vilified in the press and the public. Everyone, even Payton knows they will be looking for maximum return on him and it's only fair. I personally understand why he left and that's his prerogative but he walked on his team and his contract. The gloves come off.

Dallas is probably doing too well to make a change at HC, much to Jerry Jones's dismay.
Dallas went 12-5 and made a first round exit last year. If they make another early playoff exit this year, I don't think Jones thinks twice about pulling the trigger for Payton.

7-9 with a HOF QB
Three years in a row at one point (2014-16). Another 7-9 (‘07) and 8-8 (‘08) thrown in there, too.
Payton and McCarthy’a records are eerily similar, even considering the postseason. McCarthy just sounds like a dumbass and that’s why he gets clowned a lot. But their records aren’t that different. Both are bad at late-game management and won only one Super Bowl with a Hall of Fame QB while blowing several playoff games they should have won.
Payton went 9-8 last year, but went 4-7 with backup QBs, including 5 losses in a row, after a 5-2 start with Winston. McCarthy is 4-1 so far this year with a backup QB winning four starts in a row.

Why not the bears? Does Sean have enough hubris to think he can fix their QB issues? Their front office is littered with former NOLA execs, so there is familiarity.
That pick could be juicy.
That pick could be juicy.

The other teams mentioned are the traditional options: Chargers, Broncos, and Cowboys
Cooper Rush is saving McCarthy's job.
Wilson appears to be washed up.
My pick will be Arizona. If they don't right the ship, I fully expect the Cardinals to shitcan Kingsbury and take a shot at Payton. Payton gets his mini-Taysom who can pass.

Payton went 12-2 with QB2s Teddy and Taysom
Failed attempt at painting that narrative bubba

Only 2 picks in a single draft? For a SB and consistent playoff coach?
Posted on 10/14/22 at 2:46 pm to SlowFlowPro
Given the recent trade values for stars, I’m pretty stunned a single 1st rounder would be considered a worthy return.
Posted on 10/14/22 at 2:58 pm to Parrish
Getting rid of a first round pick will help his new team if he was planning to pick a constantly injured, non-Power 5 DE with a second round grade.

Collect assets to go after CSP

The Carolina Panthers are listening to other teams about a potential trade for star running back Christian McCaffrey, although a deal might not be easy to complete, league sources tell ESPN.
Carolina also appears unwilling to trade defensive stalwarts Derrick Brown and Brian Burns, despite interest that they have generated around the league. One player the Panthers are open to moving, according to sources, is wide receiver Robbie Anderson.

McCaffery and Anderson?
