Would be amazing. Then trade up into the second to grab a WR. Forget next year's draft. We will have some compensatory picks anyways.

Make that trade everyday of the week.
Imagine CGJ, Simmons and Davenport running around on defense.

I think the Saints trade up...but for Okudah, not Simmons. The linchpin in that plan is Detroit taking Derrick Brown instead of Okudah.
The Saints have VERY clearly been searching for over two years to find a CB. Seemingly every time a big name CB has come available (largely via trade talks) we hear about the Saints being a player. Couple that with the fact that Okudah is an Ohio St. player and it makes sense the Saints would be interested. Clearly they have had good success recently with guys from OSU
They'll have to mortgage the future to get him, but even though we have been saying this for several years now, this probably is the final year with Brees and the Saints are all in.

I like the thought but do we have the draft capital to trade up in the 1st and 2nd?

I was praying for Derwin James

Time for the redemption of Clemson linebackers drafted by us in the 1st round.

One interesting thought about the uniqueness of this draft is the amount of lineman creeping up projections
Casserly has 3 in the top 10.
He's got the dolphins trading up to 3 for Andrew Thomas, Giants taking Wills at 4, and Bucs taking Wirfs at 9.
FWIW he's got Tua at 6 to the chargers and Simmons at 8 to Arizona. He's got Patrick Queen to the saints

Mock drafts predicting trades are retarded. If they are doing so based off of some inside information, then I can give them somewhat of a pass. This dude is just throwing shite all over the walls. While mocks in and of themselves are a bit ridiculous, this nonsense is dumb

It's only dumb because it's impossible to predict, but I think it's fun to prognosticate crazy ideas and possibilities. We have no sports right now so I'm open to 10000000 mock drafts right now

Can someone please tell me the major difference between Simmons, Murray and Queen, as far as what LB position they would likely play/ role they would fill and how they would complement kiko and davis? I didnt include anzalone on the assumption that hell get hurt immediately. Appreciate it in advance

IMO all 3 are best suited for WLB in a 4-3. Simmons gives you a little more versatility in base and can stay on the field in Nickel and Dime, but doesn't quite have the instincts playing traditional linebacker when it comes to run fits and fighting off pulling guards. He's more comfortable in space
Queen = Kwon Alexander/Lavonte David
Murray= CJ Mosley
Simmons- Best comp for his play style and measurables for me is Kam Chancellor, who in today's NFL would be viewed as a "hybrid" player. He's basically a box safety. Mark Barron, Thomas Davis also come to mind. Linebackers converted from safety

too much to invest in a LB
i understand the excitement, but it's not a position where you should pay the cost this will take
the argument for davenport was much better (even though it was bad) b/c he is an edge, a much more highly valued position

That would indicate he's a pass rushing phenom. He isn't. He's a versatile safety/linebacker hybrid.

Don’t sleep on Jordyn Brooks as the saints pick
Not trading up for him though lol. Hopefully down

While I agree that I wouldn't move up for him, I also think Simmons shouldn't be pigeonholed as a LB when it comes to value. That's like calling Taysom a QB.
Yea, it's his "position" but he has the ability (and experience) playing nickel, safety, and LB. His value is that you can play your base defense against 11 and 12 personnel. There is a team in the division that is very suited to run 12 personnel with very dangerous players

I dont want to trade up but he's the guy I want if we do.

it's too much to invest in a safety, too
*ETA: especially a BOX safety

Much like with every pick let alone a trade up, it all depends on how the player turns out. You cannot make that statement now. If you get Stephone Anthony then obviously it's a huge whiff. If you get Luke Kueckly, Brian Urlacher, Demario Davis or any of those guys that can fly all over the field and are talented and big /physical enough to cover TEs then it's good deal.
2-3 years from now then we'll know what's bad or not

Agreed, but again I feel like you're not really picking up what I'm putting down. He isn't one or the other. Mccaffery, Kamara, Ekeler, and James White are running backs but they can also catch 100 passes in a season. Travis Kelce and Zach Ertz are tight ends but they can make contested catches deep down the field like a WR.
Just like a Kamara that can motion out of the backfield and line up at slot receiver, Simmons offers that defensively. You can go from 4-3 to nickel and vice versa without changing personnel. It's a lot harder for the offense to create a clear mismatch when you have a player like that on the field. When you're in a division with collectively the most dangerous skill players in the NFL, he absolutely would offer a lot of value to anyone- but especially anyone in the NFC south.
