I'm ready for it. Yes, he turned the franchise and won the first super bowl, but after the past 4 years, it's just time.

I can't believe what I'm about to say, but my body is ready for it as well. I don't want it and I don't like it but it might be what the Saints need.

Are they competent enough to hire a suitable replacement and acquire the right compensation, though?

Now if only we could think of a way to be rid of Loomis as well...

When Ireland was hired, Loomis took a back seat. He is still the boss of Ireland but in the same capacity that he is the boss of Demps.

at this poitn in time, ireland has no where near control of what demps has of pelicans. ireland was a little personnel bandaid... future role is in limbo imo. ireland had more ties to payton than loomis.

If he moved to south beach, he will be the next head coach going to rehab

Per Ian Rappaport -

Rapsheet cites "people familiar with Payton's thinking." It's not surprising. Payton is the greatest coach in Saints history, but stagnation has begun to set in the past few seasons. Payton and GM Mickey Loomis' offseason rebuild is looking like a bust, while Drew Brees' career is winding down. A reset could be best for both sides. Payton would make a ton of sense in Miami.

It's a bust in that it's not working this year. In terms of the future, it's very promising. However, you have two more signings in Browner and Spiller that look like a waste.

Payton ain't going nowhere brah. As much as y'all want him to leave. We gutted this team. It will take time. I believe he will make some drastic coaching changes. I say he needs two more solid seasons to improve the roster on both the coaching side and player side to get this team back on the competitive level. Having Ireland to help will be big. If it stays the same or gets worse, then pull the plug.

do know that TB gave Oakland 2 firsts and 2 seconds for gruden.

and that was before a Super bowl.

that would be the floor for a trade......

I don't see it happening either way so I guess it doesn't matter

He's been wrong about the Saints and Brees many times before.

Florio, Rappaport, and a third legit guy (forgot exactly who it was, it was last Saturday) are all saying the same thing.

Next couple of 1st rounders? That would never happen.

We would be looking at possibly a 1st, 3rd, and 7th; with maybe a conditional pick thrown in depending on how Miami would do the following year.

Considering the Bucs gave the Raiders two firsts, two seconds, and 8 million cash for Gruden that will be the Saints baseline. Anything like what you mentioned is laughable.

After compiling a 40–28 win-loss record (including playoffs) in four seasons with the Raiders, Gruden replaced the fired Tony Dungy as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, via a high-stakes trade that included Tampa Bay's 2002 and 2003 first-round draft picks, 2002 and 2004 second-round draft picks, and $8 million in cash.

Gruden didn't win a superbowl mind you. It would cost at least the above. It bought Tampa a superbowl though, but I thought it was more about their defense then Gruden.

Look at how much trouble we've had finding a decent Defensive Coordinator since Gregg left and then ask yourself if it's easier to find a great Head Coach than it is to find a great Coordinator. Spoiler Alert: It's not.

The odds that we would quickly return to prominence under a new coaching regime are not that great.

sure, it's not impossible... I'm saying the odds are not in our favor, and that our own experience with the DC position proves that.
