Dude was a turnstile in the playoffs and has been on a downward trend the last 2 years. Somehow, the Saints FO thought this was worth $12M/year. Absolute overpay for a mediocre talent.

Ramczyk had his worst game of a season against the Vikings, too. The entire OL got beat up and down the field.

The Vikings defense line alignment completely threw the Saints off.

The put the athletes in the middle and wrecked havoc on our interior.

Yeah our entire Oline was awful that game. Really our Oline the last decade struggles in the playoffs. Tbh, even SB year we struggled opening holes against Vikings and was average at best even during the SB. Every year we have a dominant Oline during the season and they fall apart during the playoffs.

I'm not much of a Peat fan, seems there weren't very many options out there. If nothing else, this keeps us from HAVING to draft a G, but I still wouldn't be opposed to it. Thank goodness it seems we did good with our draft at Center last year.

Well Larry warford has a 12 mil cap hit and it's his last year
So they will either extend him or draft someone

Sean Payton is the #1 reason we lost to the Vikings, the Rams and the Vikings and every other blown opportunity.

-Peat had his worst game as a Saint against the Vikings, no doubt, it was a bad game.
-Warford played his worst game as a Saint against the Vikings
-Armstead played arguably his worst game as a Saint against the Vikings
-Ramzcyk played arguably his worst game as a Saint against the Vikings
***Do you see where I’m going with this here? Our entire o-line got their arse whipped, that means to me they were unprepared and/or not motivated which suggests a good deal of blame going to our coaching staff, and don’t forget their D gets paid money to make plays as well.

2019 was Peat’s worst season as a Saint. He also had a broken forearm, fact, was he fully recovered? ‘16 & ‘17 were pretty damn good, he got a lot of undue grief on this board. Bringing him back was not a bad decision based on an aging QB we have to do our best to protect up the middle and his versatility to play T as well. Now with that being said, you can question the price tag a bit I’ll admit. He’s getting roughly $11M/yr vs Easton getting I think roughly $4M/yr. Easton played pretty good in his spot duty, enough to make you question if Peat is worth $7M/yr more, but how quick do we forget Easton couldn’t even make the active roster the first half of the season. Also Warford is nearing 30, has a $12M cap hit I think, how much longer is he going to be around? Armstead missed games each year. So that all adds to Peat’s value.
So maybe question $11M/yr, but not bringing him back. So if you say yes bring him back, then ask yourself really what was the difference in what you think he is worth vs what he got, and it’s realistically probably not much of a difference

No it was Sean being completely outclassed by Zimmer again. He’s had Payton’s number for a while. In 2018 they were putting it on us pretty good until that fumble before half. And we all know about 2017.

For whatever reason, Zimmer schemes Payton better than almost anyone, a downfall of their long term friendship. He knew the weaknesses of his own defense and what Payton wanted to do to expose said weaknesses but he also knew from previous experiences what flustered Brees and the chinks in our offense. It threw Payton off and we never adjusted. Zimmer schemed us to perfection. It also didn’t help we missed Zach Line who Payton brought in to help block inside when Peat or Warford was having their arse handed to them.

It was also our inability to stop the outside zone to the strong side that killed us on D. Go watch the tape. Almost every successful run was AWAY from Davis. We lacked athleticism at LB and they were the only team outside of the 49ers to take advantage, we stop the inside run, the outside is where we sucked, where we desperately missed Anazalone. It wasn’t just Peat, though he played a part

Peat got beat immediately on that play and forced a Brees fumble.

I thought it was crappy play calling by the supposed “best in the business”.

We should have stuck with Easton over Peat.

Peat got abused in the Falcons game (the game that gave the Vikings their game plan) Peat broke his arm and Easton came in and suddenly the interior pressure wasn’t as bad. Easton performs well the rest of the season as Peat heals and the Saints roll on.

Peat heals and Payton benches Easton. Vikings employ a copycat scheme from the Falcons game and Peat is abused. The game plan was designed to exploit Peat.

I think we keep Easton in, we win that game.

The only potential good thing about Peat is that he was a solid player in his 2nd & 3rd year when he was 100% healthy.

Either he regressed as a player, or he was never fully healthy after that. Not saying it will happen, but what if he's fully healthy this year & plays like it? He's still very young.

That's the glass half full opinion. Hopefully it works out that way.

That and the Vikings showed our whole team (aside from Taysom Hill) that they clearly wanted it more. We came out flatter than I’ve ever seen the Saints come out in a playoff game. Peat is a liability but the whole team got their asses kicked up and down that field that day.
