Ireland is very good at his job. He revolutionized our talent acquisition when Payton was doing things like the 2014 draft and signing Jarius Byrd.

Hogwash

Taysom contract is all voidable. Do you understand what that means? First year following the nfl?

Ireland was hired to overhaul our drafting and signing of FAs b/c Loomis and Payton had gotten very bad at it.

And the results speak for themselves. Ireland is a boss.

Lol no. In the years to come we will look at Payton how Lsu fans look at Saban. The best we ever had, and the jealousy that he is somewhere else

It's a four-year, $40 million contract that has a new-money average per year of $10 million, with $11.1 million fully guaranteed at signing and $21 million guaranteed by year two. It also has an upside potential of a whopping $55 million, which is where it gets interesting.

Are you talking about the old one that was a joke? He's got major guaranteed money and a $12M cap hit next year.

The only way we can lower that cap hit is by converting a roster bonus into a signing bonus, which just makes him more likely to be an anchor on this team even longer.

As a coach? There isn't a close #2.

A good backup qb makes 7.5 mil.

Taysom will make 10.

Now if they want to play him full time at qb and pay him the high end of the contract then thats a problem.

100% agree. Loom is and Payton made horrible fa decisions and drafts during Brees prime years likely costing us at least two more ships. Ireland was always known as having an eye for talent, especially on the defensive side. He’s the main reason we were competing in Brees twilight years.

The contract is voidable - not the salary cap hit. If so, everyone would just cut their vets before their final year. Welcome to the NFL rookie.
