I like the pick. Can help out at CB and FS this year. Can learn the safety spot from Sharper. Kiper even stated yesterday that Jenkin's 40 times were comparable to Asomugha's times and he was one of the best CB in the league last year.
40 times are important, but it is all about your hips and getting in and out of the breaks. He is also a little over 6 feet which is sweet.

Holy frick! Do you people really think you know more than experts?

SFP's an arse, he knows that....
Ty Law was the best corner in the league at 30, running his 4.5... fail...

Denying those pictures is like a 3 year old kid putting his hands over his eyes and screaming "lalalalalala" because they don't want to hear or see reality.

you mean to tell me a CB got beat? Oh no! Stay away from him.
While you're at it, call Denver and tell them Champ was beat in his past so he needs to be cut. frick, call EVERY TEAM IN THE LEAGUE while you're at it.

Pelican, you are right on the mark. Buddy D had a name for Saints fans who just are so biased they could't see the truth if it hit them right in the face. SQUIRRELS!

kiper was wrong
'nandi ran sub 4.4
'nandi was a stud athlete who didn't have a position and the raiders were criticized for picking him that high

for a CB, exceptionally important

this is impotant also
you have to be an absolutely stud athlete to play CB. it's the position in teh NFL that relies on athleticism more than any other

after he had already spent about 8 years studying teams, knowing his defense, and knowing technique
jenkins will lose speed too, so when he's 30 he'll be running a 4.8 or something? c'mon

He doesn't play at a 4.5 or 4.6 speed. He has great football speed from what I've seen.
did you watch games against non-slow (aka big 10) competition?
he didn't play well against UF, LSU, or USC

Don't argue with SFP about 40 times. Quoting 40 times is orgasmic for him.
my 40s quoted off top were verified in this thread

Uh yeah, you're SO CALLED expert had one of the worst drafts in Saints history not two years ago.Not to mention, not ONE probowler in the bunch Out of his three drafts, we have Bush,Evans,Nicks, Porter and Harper (and I use the term starter lightly) are the only starters.
MEACHEM
ALLEMAN
D.JONES
A.PITTMAN
J.BUSHROD
M.MITCHELL
Out of three drafts, here are his "hits"
COLSTON
EVANS
NICKS
Porter
so-so
Reggie Bush-been hurt 2 of last 3 years
Strief-not bad, not a starter
Arrington-don't know what we have YET
Bushrod-not one start jury's out
BAD!
Harper
Alleman
D.Jones
Pittman
Meachem
Oh yeah, he's certainly an expert

Defensive back Nnamdi Asomugha of Cal ran a 4.48 in the 40-yard dash at the combine in February, then improved his time with a 4.38 at the university. Once considered to be a fifth- or sixth-round selection, Asomugha could now leap into the second or third round.
''Basically, working out at the combine made my working out at Cal that much easier,'' Asomugha said yesterday from Berkeley, Calif. ''When you're at the combine, a lot of the players stay out of the workouts, but coaches want to see you do it. They want to see if you have the guts to go out and do it. When I went back to Cal, working out was a breeze.''

Ty Law was never a burner... and Jenkins will not be running a 4.8 when he's 30, unless he's injured or out of football...
Also, Ty Law was the best corner in the league well into his 30's.... double fail...

Right, hips are important for a DB, yet he looked horrible in position drills with his hips. What does that tell you?
Its the fact he got beat several times when OSU played against better competition. I know, I watched him all last year because I'm a Wells fan. Its a little disturbing to see he has good stats through his career but when he played much higher competition, he didn't perform so well. I hope he has a great career with us but from what I saw, I'm not convinced. That is just my opinion though.

i've heard both sides of this...i've heard he looked horible in drills, and i heard he looked OK in drills
at least he's not vontae davis, who was universally panned for his horrible technique/hips
this was just a shitty, shitty DB draft

All scouting reports weren't the same but I don't think I read one that was glowing about his position drills. I know for a fact I read in several, he didn't look particularly good. Sure someone can provide the link, I'm lazy...

For the love of God please don't get caught up in the 40 time. Last year I had the honor to meet a successful LSU skill player at a training facility last year about a month before the draft through a family friend. We talked about his preparation, the upcoming combine. Talk led to his former teamates and the draft. Ali highsmith came up. The player I met said "I asked him to come work with us (he and trainer) but he declined." he told me that player I met and his trainer had shaved off 1 and 1/2 tenths off his 40 time from learning the phases and technique for that run. He said Ali could have easily done that if not more but he was worried he wasn't being "taught" how to run it.
I would put money on it that Jenkins is game fast but lining up and running the 40 is completely different. Kiper was saying that 1 tenth faster on the 40 and he would have definitely been top 10. I'm willing to bet with the correct teaching and a couple of technique tweaks could have shaved off at least a tenth on his forty.
