One thing is clear. Payton carried this franchise for 15 years

The amount of stupid choices made since he’s left is really just embarrassing. It’s very clear that Payton’s influence prevented a lot of stupid nonsense from happening.

Did you forget he was here for Galette and Byrd?

Whatever. Thanks for the memories. I hope he fails spectacularly in Denver.

Yep. Saints are a snake-bitten franchise so of course we only managed to win one super bowl, but between Rams no-call and 2011 they could’ve won 2-3 more.

Truth is the Saints during the Payton-Brees era were a dynasty. It didn’t look like it at times but the Saints were the best team in the NFC over that span.

He made plenty of stupid choices himself while he was here. Do you see the cap hell we're in year after year? What about all the busts he drafted over the years? Thankful for what he did in 09 but he put us in a hole that who knows when we'll climb out of.

Drew Brees carried the franchise and saved them from being pitiful without a defense. Jeff Ireland saved Payton from himself to give the Saints a defense in 2017 and that’s why they had the run in Brees’ waning years.

Payton is the guy who signed CJ Spiller and Jairus Byrd and cut Rob Ninkovich and paid Junior Galette only to have to cut him less than a year later.

I mean how is this surprising? Loomis was here before Payton and the Saints were dog shite before he got here so you put 2 and 2 together.

He also sucks for Pelicans.

Yeah, and yet on this board you would think Payton was the second coming of Satan. It makes me sick he left, but the Saints would still be the all time loser franchise in NFL history without him. He brought the franchise back from the dead and made us winners for a long stretch. There should be a lot more gratitude from Saints fans then what is shown on this board.

He single-handedly put the Saints in their current personnel situation

Should have hired him back.
Bunch of clueless idiots running the entire franchise right now.
The good people are about to GTF out of the cesspool Chocolate City and live the good life in Denver.

1 SB and 3 NFCCG in 15 years is not a dynasty. Also 4 7-9 seasons mixed in, great run, forever grateful for the 1 Super Bowl but definitely could/should have been more.

That 2018 season was badass. So was 2011.

I think if Sean Payton is who everyone thinks he is, we would have won in both of those years. Stupid play calling lead to losses against inferior opponents in those years.
