Aaron Glenn is the clear front runner to me, for a number of reasons. The Lions defensive coordinator was strongly considered as a candidate back when the Saints chose to hire Allen in 2022. He has familiarity and wide respect throughout the building after working on Sean Payton’s staff in New Orleans from 2016-2020. And yet he also feels like he could bring an outside perspective at the same time, coming from one of the most successful franchises in the NFL today that recently underwent the type of extreme refresh that the Saints need.

This should come as a surprise to no one that is for sure

We're stuck with Carr another year. I can't imagine Johnson taking the job if he doesn't believe he can do something with Carr in the interim.

Johnson isn’t taking the job regardless. He’ll have much better options than us.

My point is the goal is not to win next year, but to be on the rise 2-3 years from now. Whether or not Derek Carr plays marginally better next year means nothing.

That being said I hope we get him by some miracle. I like the idea of Vrabel but if not him then we need an offensive-minded guy.

Post your guys here and let's discuss. Out of left field choices appreciated.

A list of potential targets:

Ben Johnson
Bill Belichick
Mike Vrabel
Bobby Slowick
Liam Cohen
Brian Flores
Aaron Glenn

These are my first two calls.

Bill Belichick
Mike Vrabel

I might even put a feeler out to Nick Saban to see if he wants to give it one more shot.

Maybe another failed raiders coach, reach out to Kiffin

I mean, you call Nick just to see if he's bored.

Why? He was a collosal failure in the NFL because paid players don't respect him. and that's the same reason his started losing steam at Bama

If ML makes the pick it will be Aron Glenn. If Gayle does what she needs
to do and fire or move him up,then hopefully they will bring somebody in
who has NO ties to the Saints. We need a complete divorce from the old
regime.

I actually like Glenn and mentioned him months ago but man we need to get away from the SP era. I’d make an exception for Brady since he only had a cup of coffee basically in quality control but if we’re going that route i slightly prefer Coen.

Liam Coen is growing on me. Would I hate Glenn? No. Pairing him with Kevin Stefanski as OC could be spicy.

But he’s not my first choice at all

According to this, it’s Joe Brady.
