The nfl voted(almost passed) on having a 15 day flex option for new teams to move their game to a Thursday night slot during the season.

espn article

quote:

"At some point, can we please give some consideration to the people who are coming to our games?" Mara said. "People make plans to go to these games weeks and months in advance. And 15 days ahead of time to say, 'Sorry, folks, that game you were planning on taking your kids to Sunday at 1, now it's on Thursday night?' What are we thinking about?"

quote:

"There isn't anybody in any of our organization that doesn't put our fans first," Goodell said.

What a dirtbag proposal.

There was nothing quiet about this. This story was all over the place for the last few weeks.

They need to go back to introducing Thursday games mid season. The early season Thursday games are so low quality. (Think of that Washington-Chicago game from earlier this season). The season opener is one thing and totally fine but going from playing week 1 on Sunday to week 2 on Thursday usually leads to an uninspiring game.

One of the owners said the proposal was quickly brought up to a vote without the normal vetting and discussions that usually preseed items that come up.

Quietly was my term for this.

Bull$hit! I’m a fan and a season ticket holder. I want all Thursday NFL games gone except maybe the first game of the season and Thanksgiving. Take a vote on that you bloated liar. Or at least poll the season ticket holders if you actually put fans first. You only care about money you lying sack of crap!

Your opinion is for ticket holding fans not all fans.

They must have cut off Goodell's response. I am sure he said
quote:

"There isn't anybody in any of our organization that doesn't put our fans first, we just don't give a shite about those that attend games because the real money is made from advertisement which means the more people watching the more we make" Goodell said.

They need to go back to 2 bye weeks and Thursday night games can only be played by teams coming off a bye week. It would eliminate Thursday night games between weeks 2-5, and 15-18. But it would improve the quality on the field and give teams more time to prepare/rehab between games.

Good. As a season ticket holder and someone that travels to multiple away games a year the Thursday night flex would be complete bullshite unless the NFL wants to pay the difference in last minute flight and hotel changes.

Beware the Goodell bots that passively and actively defend his ludicrousness.

I guess they don't care about the people who travel to away games every year. Book your flights and hotels for friday afternoon or Saturday night and find out 2 weeks before the game is now Thursday Night.

Unless you do a better job picking games that would be interesting.

There’s that

I can’t wait to watch Titans-Jags two times a year instead of just once.
