Or a team plays defense and gives themselves a chance. No need to change the rules here...the game was won fairly because KC torched the Bills first. If Buffalo held them to a FG, then their offense could've had a chance to win it. Their defense let them down.

Almost like Minnesota not having a chance to counter the Saints in the 09 game? Sorry, football is a game of margins and luck is the deciding factor as much as anything else.

and that rule was changed---FG no longer wins the game.

I get it for the regular season, but no way in the playoffs that should happen. They should just play the quarter out.

If the coin toss is that important, then it should involve some sort of skill rather than dumb luck

So the rule then punishes a team for the style of play they play? Buffalo is an offensive team and they lot strictly because of that on a coin flip. Stupid as frick

Buffalo came into this game with the top rated defense in the league, so they aren't a basketball type team with no defense that has to score 50 points to win a football game. I wanted the Bills to win, but they didn't deserve it with the way their defense folded.

KC gave up 2 TDs after the 2-min warning.

And? KC still won the game because the Bills' defense gave up the last touchdown. Force the field goal and at least you're still alive. OT rules are fine as is. You might avoid OT if you force them to return to last KO and don't give them 40 free yards playing prevent coverage. The Bills had every chance to win this game.

I don’t see the problem with allowing each team a possession in the playoffs

Nice try huh. Do you realize college changing the rules actually makes my argument for me? Even they didn’t like their own rules. Furthermore, even after the riot change there was a 9 overtime game! The college system is horribly flawed.

Might sound stupid but go to college rules, keep playing until there is a winner.

I hate everything about the college rules. It is almost of the equivalent of going to penalty shots (like in soccer or hockey) right from the start.

I get people saying they wish Buffalo should have gotten a chance with the ball. But they could have...if they would have stopped KC (or even just held them to a FG). Defense is still part of OT.

Maybe the fairest OT is to simply put 10:00 on the clock and play an extra "quarter". The NBA does that.

I agree it needs to change, but only because the current rule is stupid. If you are going to give the other team a chance bc the team only scored a FG, they should Change it regardless of what the first team does.

In other words, either sudden death or both teams get a possession then sudden death after. Not this halfass both teams get a possession unless the 1st scores a TD

I like it the way it is. The defense had a whole football field to stop them and then Set up their offense with better field position.
