New Orleans will probably never see another super bowl or NBA All-star weekend for awhile

Louisiana Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser will be in London Sunday (Oct. 1) when the New Orleans Saints take on the Miami Dolphins , but he won't be going to the game after Saints players protested during the national anthem last week.
In fact, Nungesser said he won't be going to any Saints or National Football League events for the foreseeable future. That's particularly significant since the Republican is the state's elected official in charge of tourism and attracting national sporting events, like Superbowls and NBA All-Star games, to Louisiana.

"I will not go to the game because I am disappointed in the NFL," Nungesser said in an phone interview Tuesday (Sept. 26). "I don't want to get into the battle of the statement they are making or why they are kneeling. I think it is disgraceful that anybody would use that as a time to protest."
The Saints organization did not want to comment on Nungesser's protest when contacted Tuesday.

It doesn't matter why you think you're doing something, its obnoxious that they are shitting on the country's anthem when they are supposed to be the role models. Go hug a policeman during the anthem if you want to make real change and progress on television.

You give Billy to much clout

LOL
What a buffoon. I'm quite embarrassed he is an elected official in this state and it has nothing to do with this particular situation

Good, Saints play stupid games and they will win stupid prizes. Lots of respect gone for this ball club may take generations for them to recover the black eye they put on the franchise. They deserve every bit of retaliation that comes their way

That fat piece of shite needs to realize how much money comes into town with those events so he can stfu.

And an elected official should do his job. The Greater NO Sports Foundation and Doug Thornton do more heavy lifting on getting those type of events anyway.

Oh Really? I don't recall his name being mentioned once in any of the stories when the NBA relocated the All Star game from Charlotte to NOLA on short notice. Unless he's going to actively block something like that I don't think he really matters.
quote:
The NBA formally removed the All Star Game from Charlotte on July 22 ...New Orleans was immediately floated as a potential landing spot for the game...New Orleans Pelicans President Dennis Lauscha publicly expressed the franchise’s desire to bring the game back to the Smoothie King Center ...The Pelicans are working with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, SMG, and the Convention and Visitors Bureau to make the final push. It’s a cooperative infrastructure that gives New Orleans "a decided advantage over other markets"

It never is. It will always be Doug Thornton, Mark Romig (GNOSF) and a team rep.

But his mouth breathing supporters think he's doing great. LOL
Not getting major sporting events hurts the city and state in a big way. Not getting a NBA all star game or other events doesn't seem like it would hurt the Saints and their players very much at all.

He has zero responsibilities when it comes to the bidding process for such events. The GNOSF and SMG always put together the bids.

This. The Superbowl or All Star Game is a much larger revenue monster than this fatass or his beliefs.

What a twat.
Way to try to take a shite on the city.

Good for Nungesser....I'm sure it's just to get himself into the spotlight, but good for him
