So hitting this again, being that you would be taking on a guaranteed $59 mil as soon as you traded for him because there is no bonus to sit with the Raiders and his 2026 and 2027 salaries are fully guaranteed, it would be iconically moronic to trade anything for him to begin with.

Best case the Raiders do find another trade partner immediately. If not they will likely have to convert a large portion of his base salary to a signing bonus just to make it through the start of FA, meaning if they trade him after it starts they will then be eating all of that signing bonus.

So it makes me question why the frick you would try to trade for him before FA started anyway. That was extremely stupid on the Ravens' part.

Would be the picture that follows the definition of regret.

Just gonna say Crosby is the exact reason why you don't do contracts that way and pay all that money up front. You give them minimum base to start and trickle that money their way so you can cut them and save a ton that last year unless they outperform the contract.

This contract must have been done by one of these Saints Talk "cap hell" posters that don't understand the first actual thing about the cap and decided paying them the most up front and less as years go on is a good thing. frick man I have never seen shite this bad.

They may have some choices to make, but iirc they were eating most of his hit this year anyway.

They were only eating $5M this year. Ravens were inheriting the rest of the contract. Would have saved them $25M this year and around $30M per year after that with no dead money in following years. This royally screwed them considering all the signings they made. They dished out about $300M in free agent contracts.

Read my latter posts. xD

Tldr version is the Raiders are stupid when it comes to contracts.

Also it was saving them $30 mil this year (his base salary), and $29 mil next year (his base salary), because the idiots decided to structure this contract like a preschooler.

Crazy thing is, none of these contracts we’ve seen the past few days are finalized anyway. They can’t become final until the league new year tomorrow afternoon, so the Raiders could back out of those deals (they won’t, but could) if desperate enough

I checked and, not knowing if otc has all of the agreed contracts on the books or not (I saw a couple of the FAs listed at least) and with Crosby still on there, they still had $30 mil in space allegedly.

Prior to FA they had an absurd amount of space. So they may actually be better off than I thought if most of the new FAs were accounted for in what I saw.

They can also move some money on those new deals around if the players agree to it.

I’m sure they are. Because now they get nothing and like it when they finally do trade him or he plays for the Raiders next year.

Well they prob effed up with future business but that’s good for them. Two firsts plus taking on that salary was an atrocious deal for them. Great player but he’s nowhere near worth that.

Yeah them backing out was absolutely the right thing yet equally the wrong thing to do.

I couldn’t believe the Ravens gave up two first for him. Especially the first this year. It’s a lot higher than where they normally draft. I was suprised the cowboys offered a first and second. I think that was closer to his value though.

I think it was buyer remorse and they using the medical bs to get a redo…

It absolutely is and you can bet other teams will be a bit hesitant to make deals with them in the future
