I will add that having someone like him on staff can help with scouting.
When Carroll came into the league he had a huge knowledge of a ton of guys that he had recruited to USC and ones that he passed on that went on to play in other places. He knew their backgrounds and character is a lot of cases and were able to hit a lot of homeruns with the mid to late rounds and undrafted players.

I remember a documentary that aired on ESPN when he was at Florida. They talked about how stressed out he was due to coaching. Also how it interfered in his family life. I remember that he signed a family contract saying certain things he would do to calm his coaching down. Then Ohio State happened.

After further research there are 5 players on the Saints roster from Urban's 2014 National Championship team.

Being an OC for an NFL team is probably a lot less stressful than being Head Coach at Ohio State or Florida, IMHO.

I would have to think so. Yeah the hours are long but he doesn't have to put up with recruiting wars and all the bullshite compliance that goes with it, no more kissing the asses of rich boosters. Just being able to coach ball and not worry about all the external stuff might work well for him.
