It’s not hard. 18 mil here >>>>> 20 most places, besides Texas or Florida.

Not saying he should get the $22M, but you are overstating this. They are only $4M apart.

If the Saints agree to sign MT for $22M per year, they will not lose 4-5 solid players at a rate of $4M/yr. At most they may lose one guy.

If they can meet at 20 you’ve gotta take it.

Cap hits this year:

Eli Apple: 2.5 mil
Ram: 2.45
Lattimore: 4.2 mil
Rankins: 4 mil
Von Bell: 1.2

The saints are trying to make Michael Thomas the highest paid at his job in the history of the league and he still is asking for 4 million more dollars a year.

And MT is not putting up those numbers once Brees goes into a decline and retires

How many other NFL teams are going to step up and pay him $22 million a year if he doesn’t get it in New Orleans ?? I’m not thinking that there are that many willing to fork over that kind of coin for a wide receiver.

Take the 18 Michael… If you draw a line in the sand you will wind up killing team chemistry and make yourself look like a greedy a-hole.

he'll just make a brand new Michael Thomas next year out of someone.

No. If this was the case, we wouldn’t have struggled last season, to get production from anyone besides Michael Thomas.

This. There’s nothing wrong at all with being the highest paid WR in NFL history.

With these demands he will absolutely play a year on the franchise tag. Brees will probably retire after next year, and then we will have cap space needed to make big signings like this.

But MT either needs to be a Saint, or we need to trade him to get value back. No way he just walks.

They’ll offer him the 20 and he’ll take it. 2 million won’t make or break us. Also it’s not our money, some of y’all need to chill.

Franchise tag the shite out of him or trade his arse. Plain and simple. frick being stuck with another big contract when he tears an ACL or some crazy shite happens.

Maybe, maybe not. Plently of WRs put up numbers with average to sub par QBs.

You are kidding yourself if you think he just falls off a cliff.

Further reason to re-sign. You need a stud to take the pressure off the next QB.

This shite happens every time we give someone a big contract

1. People are upset about players initial asking price

2. Team counters with substantially lower offer

3. Fans freak out saying he can walk

4. They end up compromising in the middle and all is well again.

Mike Thomas is the best WR in the NFL.

Pay the man.

It's not an absurd amount of money with the cap increase. He's not getting paid as much as Megatron was proportionally.

Edit - I think it’s fair to point out that he WOULD be getting more than megatron as far as real wage in 2019 goes, just that he’s eating up less cap space.
